McDonald's Townsville CBD — Restaurant in Queensland

My friend and I arrived in Townsville quite late yesterday and the only restaurant open according to Google was Maccas. So we go there to order, we can't get into the restaurant, they only do drive in.

No big deal, we go to the drive-through but we don't have a car, The waiter on the intercom play likes he's not there and doesn't answer the first time and not taking our order.

So we decided to order online to make sure our order was taken. We were told to come to the drive-in zone, and we were already there. We managed to get through to the waiter on the intercom, but he refused to serve our order and cancelled it on the grounds that we didn't have a car, even though we had followed the instructions on the app and NOTHING INDICATED that the restaurant was only open for drive-ins with a car (which is stupid by the way, I don't have a car so I can't eat?).

Oh yes, because when we tried to enter the restaurant and the door was closed, the waiters looked at us blankly without giving us any information. Apparently you have to guess that a 24-hour restaurant is closed to pedestrians.

Anyway, we ended up ordering on Uber Eats and miraculously after an interminable wait we were delivered but had to pay more because of the app fees and most of the food was cold. (And I know it's not the deliveryman's fault, as he was very prompt.)

Also, when the site says it's open 24 hours a day and there's no indication that there are exceptions, respect...

Best store I’ve ever been to. And easily best store in Townsville.

It’s the consistency that’s really impressive. Fries and hash browns are perfect time and time again and for me that’s the most important thing.

Drinks I’ve had no issue with. Coffees are great.

The food is usually good but sometimes it could be better. But almost always it’s completely acceptable and far better than you would expect from other stores.

Staff are great. I’ve have no issues with them. Management staff are amazing, always have good interactions with them.

I frequently visit around 9:30am, and less frequently around 11am. Always great.

I have also occasionally visited in the afternoons and evenings which are also good experiences overall.

They are also really quick. Rarely wait more than 5 mins in drive through. Which is impressive given how good the food and service is. However, Im more than willing to wait for great food and service from this store.

It’s rare they make a mistake. I always check my food before driving away and they've never had an issue fixing it up.

Consider skipping your closest maccas and come to this...

One Saturday night I approached the drive in at Maccas Ogden Street, asked how much was a small chips, I was surprised when the women said $3.00 + I nicely said, gee, at Hungry Jacks, they are only $1.00 to which the maccas employee said to me, "well, go to Hungry Jacks, I was taken aback, than when I ordered something else, the maccas staff than said, " oh you still want to order" When I got to t the window I noticed her leaving and someone served me, I told this employee, that I was very unhappy, with the way the previous employee served me. On top of that Maccas is very very expensive compared to hungry Jacks , who's burgers are better n bigger and cheaper plus they have the widest range, of cheaper items. I'll take this Maccas employee and now only go to...
