I really don't understand why this place has so many 5 star reviews... Went here for a family birthday dinner and it was embarrassingly disappointing. Firstly, the food came out 80 minutes after ordering. By the time we ate dessert I was pretty much ready to sleep. Many other tables who had ordered after us got their food first, and when we finally did get our food all of our dishes were cold. The portions were tiny and the only dish that gave a "wow" factor was the koji eggplant, nonetheless it was finished in one bite. I can't believe we got 3 pieces of their jerk cauliflower for 15 dollars. The dumplings were yummy but the sauce was overpowering. Wish they had more substantial vegan options that weren't just vegetables (where are the potatoes, rice, tofu, beans, tempeh?) as I was starving even after dessert. The service was strange and it felt like we were being treated lesser than the other diners. Anywho, the only reason I'm not giving them 1 star is because the dessert was amazing. We got their green apple pave which was light and fluffy and warm with a lovely crunchy caramel and vanilla ice cream. Still tiny but very good. Not to mention the day after both my partner and I had upset stomaches and felt bloated which rarely happens to us, so not sure if it was 100% plant based or just cooked with lots of oil. Will not come back ever and do not recommend.

Absolute gem , my husband and I had a child free night on Saturday so we made the most of it with a hotel in castle hill and then dinner at a touch of salt I just googled restaurants nearby and it was the first on the list as we have never eaten in the city . From the moment we walked in the waitress was amazing, I didn’t matter that we didn’t have a reservation at all and they quickly set up a table outside , where we wanted to be. The place had such a beautiful ambience, nice music, romantic lights and overlooking the river was perfect. We had another waitress who was amazing too very chatty and professional, even called us lovebird after she saw us holding hands. We had cocktails, dinner and dessert and it was one of the best meals I have tasted, good size portions good value for money and it was divine. We always hit the strand so it was nice to have dinner in the city for a change, we will definitely be back. Thanks again kizzy & karl cross We visited again Saturday 16th November once again a delight to dine here.

We dined here at A Touch of Salt while travelling in Townsville and it was the best meal we had during our trip. The food is fine dining style with small portions that are priced on the high end which are worth it for the amazing quality you get in return that will leave you wanting more! The service is friendly and helpful and the atmosphere along with the ambience of the restaurant is warm and inviting while modern. We tried the grilled focaccia, mushroom wontons, pumpkin porcini lasagne, market fish with butternut curry and two desserts: the apple crumble tart and salted coconut sago (which were both amazing!). The plant based/vegan menu options are also delicious and worth a try even if you aren’t vegetarian/vegan. The presentations of each dish were consistent and the flavours were flawlessly balanced with one another. All ingredients, including the market fish (coral trout) were cooked to perfection too. If you’re looking for top notch quality food in Townsville, you have to come here!

A bit sad to write this review as we have always gone to ATOS for our anniversary dinners. Last night we went for our 15 year wedding anniversary and I also mentioned this on our booking. We have previously had exceptional service with attention to detail, but last night wasn’t great.

We waited nearly an hour and no entree had come, I asked the waitress as she passed and she said that it will come soon, it’s just that they have a big group in the back corner slowing things down (it looked like a table of 10-12, and the rest of the restaurant was not even half full). We had also gone this whole time without being asked if we would like another drink.

The waitress then came back and said that there didn’t seem to be a food order for us? She asked who took the order…it was her. She then asked us if we remembered what we ordered, and I said just check your note book there as it will be on one of the previous pages. It was, and she expedited our entrees.

Entrees came 5 or so minutes later. We booked dinner for 6:30 pm and didn’t have our mains until 7:55 pm. We were both tired and sick of waiting at that point that we didn’t get dessert.

They did credit our bill for the entrees (total of $36). But this experience just really ruined the special feeling of the evening for us. I’m sorry to say, I think we will go elsewhere for any special...

For couples or groups "A Touch of Salt" is the perfect way to relax, with lovely surrounds and truly delicious food. The peach and lychee iced tea is a refreshing and addictive way to begin and the Grilled Haloumi served with tangy minted zucchini and red pepper pide made for a memorable starter. The eggplant, red pepper and mozzarella lasagne was lovely and flavourful also, and the drinks and starters were served quickly and with a smile. Both my husband and myself had the eye fillet with creamy sweet potato mash, Swiss brown mushrooms and ham croquettes and found the steak to be perfectly seasoned, the croquettes to be crispy on the outside and yielding and creamy inside with a tantalising smokiness that went wonderfully with the sweet potato mash and red mustard sauce. For dessert we sampled the yoghurt pannacotta with nectarine and ginger jelly accompanied by a crispy biscuit and fresh berries; and the warm peach and almond tart with lemon verbena sorbet and set honey. Both desserts balanced sweetness and their respective accompanying flavours very well and the cappuccino made for a good finishing touch. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience due to great service from everyone we encountered and a well developed menu loaded with tempting flavours. We highly recommend A...
