Have always enjoyed the delicious beer and friendly service at taphouse, until this afternoon. Apparently Taphouse is a dog friendly spot. Pierre my tiny 15 week old french bulldog has been to taphouse no less than 6 times since I bought him. Tonight he was asked to leave (for the first time) because he was sitting on one of their chairs and might leave dog hair on the chair when we leave 🙄. He is cleaner than most of the people in the Townsville city and hasn't dropped any hair anywhere yet. Pretty sure the guy was just jealous of all the attention Pierre gets and wasn't a true reflection of Taphouse. I did try to explain to the guy that Pierre isn't allowed on the ground until 2 weeks after his 16 week needles but the limited mindset of the bar guy couldn't understand the rational explanation. The reason I take Pierre everywhere with me is to guarantee he is extremely social and comfortable in every situation while doing my best to keep him off the ground. Probably the worst customer service I have experienced at a bar anywhere in Australia.

After ordering drinks from the taphouse, we ordered food from one of the neighbouring outlets. As both venues are in an open plan within city arcade, the expectation is that mixing food and drink between venues is tolerated, obviously as long as you are still purchasing goods from the venue you are seated at.

Instead, we were roughly told to move along by the staff, even though we had bought multiple drinks. Even a polite apology saying that other venue's food could not be consumed at the taphouse would gave been fine, but instead we were told that it was 'bad for business', despite being the only patrons.

We moved to one of the adjacent bars, who told us that mixing purchasing food from other venues was no issue at all.

After this experience, I'd recommend that the taphouse be avoided, which is a shame, as the venue itself...

Visited the Taphouse early November with the mrs while we were in Townsville on holidays. Was great, now that I’ve moved here I wanted to come down and have another ripper brewery experience. NEVER coming back here, bar staff were rude and blunt all because I asked for the Red beer I had here on holidays. Not an issue that it’s no longer on tap but you don’t need to make people feel stupid for asking a simple question. Tiny mountain has a much more welcoming atmosphere.
