Pearl Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in Queensland

(Please see edit at the end of this originally written review) Excellent and substantial menu, with consistently great food- hard to go past the superb Sweet and Sour Chicken, mostly for me as a take home dish. A useful tip for this dish of ordering as a sit down in th he restaurant meal, is to request the chicken is served separately from the sauce, as this retains its great crispness. Edit - there is no question that since posting this review, some 2yrs ago, the standard of food has fallen away significantly. On the 4+ further occasions, our usual & regular order was very much not up to scratch. As we always ordered the same 2 or 3 dishes, our favourites, it easily became apparent to us of the decline. We are no longer game to visit, and only hope that things have improved for the large amount of customers that do frequent Pearl Garden - it is a great pity, as it really was as good as I originally stated above. Friends and family recommended pearl gardens in the past but I never got around eating in this restaurant. First time bringing the family here on Tuesday 22/8/23 and I must say, I am really impressed with the hospitality the waiter and waitress they showed when they welcomed us in. They were genuine, cared for the customers and asked if everything was okay. The restaurant is clean, had a warm feeling to it and it generally felt a warm place to dine in. The menu list wasn’t overbearing and they provided a whole range of Chinese cuisine for the family which my nephews really liked. The food was well presented, clean, not oily, well priced for 5 people for $169 and the portions were just right and we still had left overs which we took home. I highly recommend Pearl Gardens to anyone who is keen to have a great meal. We will definitely return in the near future....

Went in to eat with about 11 people for my grandfather's birthday and we all ordered the good fortune banquet. The dishes were nice but only the plain rice and the plum pork dish stood out and there were several dishes. So if you're looking for amazing food, this is not the place. However, all the food came out quickly.

The waitress seemed very rude as if she didn't want to be there, had no patience and seemed a little condescending. She may have also been the manager. However, she did give the kids some cute miniature Chinese lantern type decorations to take home which was nice. The rest of the staff were polite but none of them smiled.

They do have a take away option and I've used this before. You do have to wait quite a while because all the food is made fresh.
