Red Rooster Toowoomba South — Restaurant in Queensland

For someone who generally avoids franchised outlets like the plague, this is my second rodeo this week. Fortunately a better experience than the complete disaster at GYG.

Service was speedy - although RR were surprisingly light on customers for 6:30PM. The young lass serving (Eva according to the receipt, but many fast food outlets have one login so that may not have been her actual name) was very polite and well presented. A credit to her and the business.

Food arrived quickly. Another young lass with a goth-like appearance handed my food over in a friendly manner. She must spend ages on her winged eyeliner every morning but full credit to her as she was bubbly and very well presented as well.

My wife is fond of anything with pineapple fritters so the Trop Box was a good option. Hard to get her feedback through chomping but I feel the reaction was positive. I really enjoyed the Red's Hot Chicken - most sauced fried chicken is horrifically sweet - this had a good kick of heat and appeared to be vinegar based. Chips were rather good as well.

The negative was no drink was supplied - but not worth the effort to turn around and...

Today (11/02/25 @11.30ish) we waited so long in the drive thru we were convinced our food was being freshly made! Sadly that wasn't the case....😔

The wrap was cold, the chips tasted old, and the pieces of hot honey chicken (which weren't fresh either) had about a tablespoon of sauce on them - and that is a generous estimate. They'd been stacked on top of one another in the box and the biggest piece, which of course was on the bottom, had NO sauce on it whatsoever. Not a drop. When I've ordered this in the past, my fingers have been dripping with hot honey sauce and the bottom of the box is sticky with it. Not on this occasion. The person who 'waved' the hot honey sauce over these chicken pieces did so like they were afraid they'd be asked to pay for it!

We paid over $31 for what turned out to be sub par food, and it's abysmal experiences like this that stop people from coming back. It can also put a business out of business Red Rooster, so you really need to lift your game.

This place is absolute rubbish. Staff are rude. Food is disgusting and takes ages to be made. The place is gross. There was a full restaurant of unhappy customers. I ordered a chips and it took 10 minutes because there was lots of customers, and when I got the chips, they were cold. Then they tried to make it up to me by offering me a drink. Absolutely ridiculous. On my way out I went to the bathroom, only to see urine all over the floor, and strings of toilet paper. There was no soap also. I would rate it no stars if that was an option, but I am warning whoever is thinking of going here: DO NOT COME HERE! Any other...
