Had the vegetable stirfry udon and the vegetable gyoza from the vegan menu. The gyozas tasted very bland and boring. It felt like I was just eating straight-up pasta (I'm referring to that bland carbohydrate flavour). I've actually had better gyozas from the supermarket frozen section to be honest (I'm sorry😞). I don't think the owner or the staff have actually tried it and tried to tweak the recipe. The Vegetable Stir-fry upon was also bland. I couldn't feel any other flavour other than the udon. There was a very little tiny hint of sweetness in the dish, but I could only pick it up after almost finishing my dish. It was also really oily. So it just felt like bland udon with a hint of soy sauce and bland vegetables. It was edible, but I didn't enjoy it at all. Throughout the whole meal, I was just thinking to myself, "I wish I could've just gone home to eat, making an avo toast at home would've been less bland." So yeah. I bet all of your non-vegan items are great, hence the good reviews on them, but I think you guys should check on the vegetarian and especially!! vegan parts of the menu. I saw a review from around 6 years ago saying that the Vegetable Gyozas were bland. I guess that hasn't changed, and in a really long time😞 I really hope this review was useful so that Cairns can step up their vegan options game and not just serve bland things🥹

The short version: Clean restaurant, prompt service, tasty food. The long version: the Beef Tataki was delicious, cold and juicy with flavour. The spicy Tokotsu Ramen came with long, textured, bitey noodles and a soup that made my nose run. Just about perfect. Personally I thought there were too many bean sprouts in my ramen--but I dislike bean sprouts and some of you out there love em. My suggestion is order away. Service is friendly, the food is genuine (and leaning towards hearty over fancy) and the Kirin Megumi has just the right bite to cut through chili oil in many of the dishes. The place itself has a clean, polished feel you might expect of a fancier (or dare I say corporate) restaurant...but it's just this one place in Carins that wants you to know you're sitting down to something good.

We had a great dining experience at Tokyo Dumpling Restaurant in Cairns CBD. The pork and chicken dumplings were absolutely delicious, fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. The chicken fried rice was well-seasoned and satisfying, and the chicken ramen noodles had a comforting broth and tender chicken. For drinks, we tried the lemon, lime & bitters and kombucha, both of which were refreshing and complemented the meal nicely. While the service was a bit on the slower side and things seemed a little unorganized at times, the staff were friendly, acknowledged the delay, and made sure everything we ordered was delivered correctly, which we appreciated. Overall, the food quality was excellent, and we’d happily return for another round of dumplings!

Had a gorgeous meal here on Friday lunch. There were 4 of Us and We were looking for a fabulous authentic Japanese restaurant and We found it in Tokyo Dumpling. Firstly the staff greet you with such friendliness and from that We knew We were in for an incredible experience. We got 6 sets of different steamed dumplings and 1 set of the waygu beef fried. Then I ordered the fried noodles with chicken and my Daughter ordered the same but the vegan fried noodles with veggies. Hubby just had the dumplings with rice, miso and soy dipping sauce and Our Family Friend asked the chef to pick His meal and the Chef served him the chicken Katsu. Our food was sublime and some of the best Japanese food We had ever had. Can’t wait to visit Cairns again and go back and dine again at the Fabulous Tokyo Dumpling. 5 stars. Highly...
