TL;DR - Went for dinner, found amazing food, great cocktails, and staff that made the entire dining experience fantastic.
Details: Miss Chief Bar & Eatery is truly a gem in the Cairns dining scene. Their menu, built around the ethos of sharing and fun, delivers on every front. We started with the Steamed Asian Greens, which turned out to be an amazing take on what you'd expect from an Asian restaurant—simple yet full of flavour.
The 14hr Slow-Cooked Pork Belly w/ Chilli Caramel Sauce was a standout. The sweet and spicy balance, combined with perfectly crisp crackling, made it a dish to remember. The Pork Gyoza Potstickers were simple and tasty, just as you’d want them to be, and the Beef Brisket Bao Buns were nothing short of fantastic—the brisket was tender, flavourful, and perfectly complemented by the soft bao.
I also tried the Dark Chocolate Negroni, a delightful cocktail featuring Dark Chocolate Liqueur, Bombay Gin, and Campari. It was an easy-drinking cocktail with the expected bitter notes from the dark chocolate elements, offering a sophisticated twist on the classic Negroni that was both unique and satisfying.
The waitstaff, particularly Ross and Danielle, were attentive and pleasant, adding a personal touch that made the dining experience thoroughly enjoyable. They ensured everything ran smoothly and left us feeling well cared for.
This was truly a feast for the senses in a casual yet refined environment, Miss Chief Bar & Eatery should be at the top of your list. Highly...
Read moreAs long time Cairns locals, my wife and I can confirm that Miss Chief is a fantastic venue. We have been here about 8 times over the last couple years and it has consistently been 5 star! The manager Rebecca and her team treat everyone with fantastic northern hospitality! We have tried almost everything on their hunted and gathered menu: with favourites being the slow cooked pork belly, bao buns, lamb ribs and KFC cauliflower bites. We have never been disappointed with any of their food. We are yet to try any of their desserts but we don't doubt they are amazing. The cocktails are a star (too many to list) with a huge and stunning list of wines/ beers/ spirits to compliment the food. The options of both indoor and outdoor dining options are great with a wonderful 'moody' atmosphere inside. We have taken many friends, family and colleagues here and I don't know of anyone who has not thoroughly loved the experience. Also, they have one of the best happy hours (drinks and tapas) going around in Cairns at the moment. Thank you Rebecca and the whole crew, we will continue to be loving customers. Don't think about, just go, you will not be disappointed. See you again soon!...

The only endearing quality this venue has to be the location.
A group of us attended this venue on Friday evening and the age old saying 'first impressions count' could not have been more true than with this venue.
At roughly 9pm on a Friday night this venue was empty, the music was dull and for the amount of people on site the service was poor and there was zero atmosphere.
The bar staff took our order and then told us to sit down and they would bring our drinks out as it was not busy. We waited and no drinks came. I found them sitting in attended on the bar. I asked why they were nit brought out and a staff member responded 'we don't do that' completely the opposite of what we were told to do.
The food we ordered was ok for the price but not something I would order again unless out other options. Oil, oil, oil is what came out of the kitchen.
It was hard to gauge what crowd this venue is targeted at as the are doing nothing impressive or special to draw people in.
For anyone visiting Cairns I would not put this on the 'to do list' as there are many other venues in the CBD that offer a better experience...
