Today my son and I visited this coffee shop in Atherton we ordered 2 ice coffees, a bacon n egg roll and 1 hash brown. The indigenous young man who served us seemed quiet nervous when we asked for an iced coffee we explained to him not a coffee milkshake but an iced coffee made with ice, he went down spoke with a woman I believe was the owner she came down to the register and I explained we would like iced coffees no cream. She then proceeded to tell us the young man who served us only had a year 10 pass at school I smiled at the fella and stated we all start somewhere and gave him a smile. The woman then stated oh he’s 22 now and should be better but said he is pretty terrible. We went and sat out front to wait for our iced coffee, bacon n egg roll & hash brown. This lady made our drinks brought them out placed them on the table and proceeded to blame this young man for not listening and stating he does everything wrong, it really made my son n I feel very uncomfortable for this young fella. She brought our bacon and egg roll out I said oh did we not order a hash brown, she then apologised blaming this young man once again, she offered to cook one up I said don’t worry about it and told her we ordered iced coffees not coffee milkshakes she offered to bring ice I said don’t worry about it. The whole time my son n I felt terrible for the way this woman spoke n blamed the young man for everything wrong, we were quiet appalled with her behaviour. We ate a very nice egg n bacon roll, I went into say the roll was lovely but sadly left the milkshakes behind there was no offer of money back for the hash brown. I waved out to the young man thanked him for his good customer service and lovely smile. When we left I could not stop thinking of this young man and how terrible this lady was in degrading him and blaming him for all that went wrong, we did say iced coffees several times and explained also to her who turned n made them milkshakes. Yes I couldn’t stop thinking how horrible this woman was the young man was 22 same age as my son. No wondered he made mistakes this lady killing any confidence this lad may have. I went back! I asked the lady if I could have a word with her. We moved towards the back of the shop I told her I was upset with the way she treated n blamed the young fella and said we are suppose to build our young folk up not degrade and belittle them explaining I personally have a year 10 pass at school and am now quiet successful in the mid of my life, I said you did not even offer my money back, she said yeah this is all because I didn’t refund I said nothing to do with the money. She walked away, grabbed the phone told me I’ve rang someone because I hadn’t left. I never swore or raised my voice once. I turned to the young man thanked him for his lovely service told him he had a great smile and said we as adults are supposed to build our young up not stomp them down. I really hope the nasty woman does not give him any backlash because it seems the truth hurts and she didn’t want to listen. Absolutely disgusting behaviour on her part. Young man if you are reading this, you do not have to put up with that kind of treatment you deserve so much better. Good luck with your future, keep that beautiful smile. Not all employers are nasty. To the woman that owns the shop, time you retire you are a...

I had heard wonderful things so I was very disappointed when we stopped for lunch today. Mug of coffee was weak milkytasting and luke warm and the juice was over 50% ice which made it a very expensive $8 cup of juice. Next the Caesar salad was tiny and very average in toppings. The halumi stack was made with a piece of cheap shop multi grain bread, the thinnest piece of barely cooked halumi (I use halumi alot and they must cut the halumi in half or even thirds to get it this this), a few slices of browning avocado and 2 over cooked poached aggs - not good enough for the $18 price tag.. Lastly was my daughter's hamburger which had a patty that was so dry that the edges were hard like toast crust? I think the patty had been precooked and nuked in the microwave or recooked before using. All the meals were served on cheap looking plastic plates and the lady at the counter had to charge me twice as she made a mistake with adding things together in her head. The price for 3 very mediocre lunch meals, 1 terrible coffee and a half full juice was $31 and another $27. This experience was so bad that I felt inclined to write a review. These owners mentioned to another customer that they had only had the cafe for 8 months and it seems to me that either we had poor luck or the new owners are cashing in on a previous owners good reputation. If the shop owners read this please feel free...

Overall very dissapointed. The cheeseburger wasn't worth the $18 price. My wife didn't finish her hot chocolate. The fries were OK, and the toasted sandwich was definitely not worth it.

We asked what's the difference between the thickshake and the milkshake and got a teenage level sarcastic response "one is thick and the other isn’t" as if we were stupid. We had to ask again what makes it thick, and only then was it explained the thickshake has extra icecream. (It could have had malt powder or any other variation of the many ways to make a shake!)

I could tell the staff were trying to do well but I think the atmosphere is missing in a big way. The staff interactions between eachother seemed very loud and abrasive for some reason.

We came in to relax and unwind after a long drive and definitely left feeling ripped off for the quality provided, regretted the choice.. and...

Nice spot and pet friendly. Sat outside under large shady trees in a garden setting. Superb location. Food came out promptly. I ordered the 'Puffing Billy', aka The Lot. As it was placed before me I realised I had a problem. It's 3 stories high. I had to de-construct it into bite-sized portions, and attack one story (metaphor) at a time. No one escapes! It was a long battle, but well worth the effort. Tasted great. Compliments to the chef! Good sized Iced coffee to wash it down...

Lovely quaint cafe in the heart of Yungaburra. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to eat anything, but to my surprise there were items which could be veganised and also the BEST VEGAN CAKE OF MY LIFE. It was a giant slab of the most deliciously moist berry almond cake. I didn’t even take a photo because I inhaled it. Vegan cakes are forever ruined for me after eating that and I will be dreaming about the day I am reunited with that cake.

We really enjoy coming to the Whistle Stop Cafe. The staff are really friendly and the food is lovely. They have an exciting new menu and I'm sure that the quality of the food will live up to the expectation. The decor is very relaxing and pleasant and, although there is quite a lot of passing traffic noise, if you're inside it is still reasonably quiet. We also like it because it is not in the centre of town.
