YAW — Restaurant in Queensland

Ordered our breakfasts and milkshakes, asked for water jug for the table and received a very curt “No, you can purchase water we do not do table water”. This is not the normal service you expect when dining in an Australian cafe? I could see a heap of cups, I asked if she could please fill 2 cups with some tap water instead, I pointed out my friend was pregnant. The waitress turned to check if she was allowed to do this with another staff member, maybe the manager? This staff member was even more abrupt and rude to us, refused “No you can purchase water, I do not have to provide it to you”…. Refusing to fill a cup with tap water for a pregnant paying customer? You should be ashamed of not just your customer service but your moral compass. Embarrassing us and being rude to us over such a small and cheap thing. Why ban the service of tap water to paying patrons in hot Mackay? Obviously this interaction completely biased the rest of my experience here - Eggs Benedict was average and mine had egg shell in it. Also no bathroom provided for customers either! In QLD only licensed venues have to provide drinking water so they are within their rights to refuse. But to refuse patrons who ask for a cup of tap water on a warm day in Mackay after spending $80 on food and milkshakes = inconsiderate, scummy, money-grubbing, poor customer service. I would have left had I not paid already and been beyond embarrassed by your staff. Won’t...

I think I had really hyped this place up, so I’m not sure it lived upto the hype in my head.

This place has a really good menu, I do think I will come back and try it again but it was ok first time around.

I got the waffles and chicken, it was all just a bit dry, could have done with a lot more sauce/hot honey or whatever it was, flavours were good though. A friend got the s’mores French toast - which was disguised under the name blueberry pancakes on the online menu hahaha, so she did think she was getting pancakes but the description did describe the s’mores. Anyway small issue, s’mores was good but extremely sweet so only recommend if you have a mad sweet tooth coz it’s a decent portion.

I think I would also like to try the bake house I saw some good looking treats in there.

The only reason I give 1 star is because I cannot go lower on this site. Worst meal I have had. I ordered the blue berry pancakes for lunch. Tasting the maple syrup juice, it was tarte, horrible. Thought I could eat it so I started on the pancakes. Couldn't taste the blueberries for this terrible taste. My closest description would be the worst tasting cough medicine in existence. I had 2 more bites, that was it. Handed the plate back to the waitress. Went over to the counter, told the women the pancakes were horrid. I took out a wrap from the fridge. Guess what! I had to pay for the wrap. The woman just shugged her shoulders and walked away. ...
