Been here a few times, have always left hungry after spending big dollars. Sharing style does not mean slicing a single piece of bread into small enough pieces to accommodate the whole table. Just because it tastes good and it's in Coffs Harbour doesn't mean it's five stars. Poor value, SMALL share portions, large prices. The $45 "feed me" menu (aka the "starve me" menu as my wife says) has no main, and no dessert and we are gonna have to get hungry jacks on the way home. But what really made me write this review, was the repeated reminders of the "time limit" on the table. Reality check please; you can't keep up with your own time limits, you're not serving high powered business lunches in Manhattan, get a grip, don't be rushing families who are paying top dollar in Coffs Harbour on a weeknight to turn imaginary tables. Book less tables. Make more tables. Not my problem that you people want to turn your tables. If I was full and the food came according to your own time limits, no dramas. But it leaves a terrible taste in the mouth when you start harping on about time limits before we've even ordered. Very unnecessary especially when the waitress tells us not to worry about the time limit, after the "time limit" is up. You guys are setting yourself up for failure. People will cotton on once the initial buzz about there being edible food in Coffs region wears off. The food was underseasoned, and not worthy of the pretentiousness with which it is presented. It felt like the beginning of a meal, not a full meal. We also supplemented the feed me menu with a $65 rib eye and were still hungry.
We paid for the feed me menu, and the rib eye, and at around $50 a head for food, we all feel pretty unsatisfied. Simply not enough food for the money! And we so badly want a good quality good value eatery...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at this fine establishment last Sunday, and it was such a great experience. I wasn't expecting to find such a hidden gem in the small coastal town of Sawtell, but I did. Firstly the service was everything you want it to be. Welcoming and warm, but also casual and relaxed. For someone who will drink anything but never knows what I feel like...I was super appreciative of Bianca taking control and dishing up a myriad of delightful cocktails. The food was absolutely on point too. Clean, well thought out dishes with lots of freshness and finesse. The meats were cooked to perfection to accompany the veg heavy dishes, which is the way I like it. To come away from a meal where you are perfectly full, not button poppingly bloated is an art form that not all restaurants pull off. I found out during the meal that they were down 2 chefs, and was blown away at how co-owners Ric and Bianca worked together to fight through what must have been a nightmare for them. The whole experience was a real treat. From the service, to the food, to the drinks, to the incredibly well mixed music they had playing throughout their cosy space. I highly recommend if you are ever in this part of the world to come and...
Read moreI had a dinner booking with a large group this coming Friday night which i was really looking forward to & thought I'd be ordering off regular menu so was going to get entree as I had weight loss surgery a year ago & can only eat small amounts of food. Today two days prior to our booking Bianca at Bar Que Sera informed us that we would be having a set menu at $35 a head. As I can not eat as much as everyone else I was not happy to pay for food I can't consume also on careers pension so dont have money to throw away. I called Bianca & tried to negotiate (as only told of set menu at short notice before our booking date) but was not open to negotiate saying "the business will lose money" I said "then how is it fair to me to pay for food I won't consume" (through a decision that wasn't mine). So dam right Bianca you will lose business as I won't be eating or having drinks at Bar Que Sera or Mortys joint (same owners) ever & when conversation comes up about eating in Sawtell I will be relaying my poor experience (yes Bianca word of mouth goes...
