Went in for dinner without a reservation because we it was the nearest pub to where we were staying and we were told it was a good place to eat. While the food was good, it was the service attitude from one staff member that was just horrible. She rolled her eyes when I said we didn't have a booking and put us on a table that was still available. When I came up to order she told me I couldn't order drinks when I ordered the food and that I had to go to the bar. Then after the order was all placed and I was just about to pay she decided to inform me just as the eftpos machine asked for my card that there was a surcharge because it was a public holiday. Now I have no issue paying a surcharge for a public holiday but it would of been correct to inform me of that before I ordered, not just as I was about to pay. There was then debate between her and staff as to if the children's pop top drinks were the ones that were meant to be served with the kids meal. Other staff all seemed to say that they usually gave them but she was saying my children had to have cloudy Apple juice or Crandberry juice. Neither of which my children drink. She finally gave one of the bottles, with a lemonade and then walked away, leaving me standing there unable to order any adult drinks. It was honestly very rude behaviour especially since another gentleman who started ordering just after me was allowed to order his glasses of wine with the food and pay for it all at the same time. I actually had to go through the door to the front bar to have someone serve me to get some other drinks but when I came back she was then serving someone else at the bar in the dining room. When we were in the middle of our meal this same staff member approached and asked if we were finished, considering there was still meat on my plate and both my partner and I has our cutlery sitting on the edge of the plate in use, I was shocked and replied quickly 'No, not at all', stopping her from taking my daughter plate which was full with her cut up chicken and chips on it. I have no idea what seemed to annoy her about us when we walked in the door but her attitude towards us was just unacceptable and continued throughout our whole meal. I gave 2 stars because the kids meals came quickly and although they were huge portions for children, they were tasty. As for the rest, We won't be returning again and if anyone asks we will tell them it isn't as good as it looks. Maybe your staff need some retraining in manners and...
Read moreThree little words... "Prepare to wait". And wait, and wait and wait. The restaurant wasn't even half full when we ordered and may have been half full the whole night, however it took just on ONE HOUR for 2 meals to be delivered to our table. An over-cooked, dry, chewy chicken Parma with chips and the Roast of the day: dry (seems to be the theme) pork with brown-meat gravy (?), 4 string beans, half a potato, the butt end of a corn cob (approx 1 inch) and a tiny piece of pumpkin. Value for money? No. The environment was modern and inviting; the pub standard, nothing unexpected there and the service team were welcoming and polite. All the usual drink choices on tap and fridge. A range of desserts that we didn't try, but sounded delicious. You really don't get much choice in Pt Augusta and this may be the best there is, perhaps we weren't adjusted to "Pt Augusta time". Not planning a return to the town anytime soon but will try to avoid it if I do. 3 stars for the overall experience, the other 2 stars would have been awarded if the food was improved and served within a...
Read moreSorry guys this is in my opinion the worst meal we have ever had. Cannot say eaten as two of the meals were inedible. We were cautioned that the meals could take 30 mins or a little longer but the first two came out after1 hr and the other 2 15 mins later. The beef stew and dumplings was ok .The dumplings were undercooked and doughy. The spaghetti bolognese was passable. The chops with mash ( were surprised when it was sweet potato mash) were as cold as the vegetables it was served with. The chorizo and bacon penne had large chucks of undercooked onion. Even a very large end bit was included. Add some large strips of capsicum and this meal was spoilt. The offer of a free drink or dessert doesn't seem to be a sufficient compensation for the lose of a main meal. No financial compensation considered because it was against company policy. I would think long and hard before...
