Seems like next door are not the place to be for birthday dinners! We must have got the same staff as another reviewer who also came for their birthday. We had a very similar experience.
I provided feedback and the restaurant had constant justifications for bad service and poor food.
Honestly I’m so disappointed in our experience and really wish I had not booked my birthday dinner with you. My first time at next door the food and service was amazing. This time the service was very substandard especially for the price we paid. The quality of the meat was good but that is the only positive feedback I have.
The sides were way below average (not just the gluten free options).
The chimichurri was horrible. We ended up eating plain steak for dinner …. With a side of plain lettuce. Yum!
Our experience started when I entered and asked for some more menus, the front of house staff was pretty dismissive and said there are already some on the table (not enough for 12 people) but do you want more. I said yes and none arrived.
The next issue was again some attitude and dismissiveness, I advised two of us were gluten free which I noted in my booking, we were told oh the potato’s are fine they just share the same fryer. I replied well no that’s not fine that’s not how allergies work. We ended up only being able to order the salad, or I should say $14 lettuce. It wasn’t until after it arrived we were told the dressing just has a little bit of gluten, well we’re not just a little bit allergic so that doesn’t help. When I questioned why we were not told before we ordered again I got a dismissive attitude. We did however not have to pay for the lettuce. So that was one good thing. However I would rather pay and eat a full meal that plain steak.
The last time I visited the sides were amazing. This time not so much. When we asked for some kind of dressing we were asked do you want some oil, (eventually after being dismissed initially) I think it would have been better to check with the chef maybe? Anyway we got some balsamic after we had already almost finished our lettuce. And no this is not seasonal this is just bad food.
A guest asked for a recommendation the staff responded I’ll go get some menus and show you what’s on the menu again dismissively and rudely as he was all night. You’d think your staff would know what to recommend. He did come back and eventually give a recommendation. Was it possibly a new staff member? It felt like it.
He also was very clumsy and bashed someone’s wine glass and also dropped sauce on someone’s glasses. I honestly at this point think I give up with this review. I don’t have much good to say at all. I also gave up addressing our concerns as this guy was so incredibly rude that I felt uncomfortable and knew he would not take anything on board.
A very disappointing experience. A very expensive experience for the service we received and I feel embarrassed that I had my friends pay a big amount of money for this experience. I would never recommend your restaurant again. And I will never return. Which is a shame as after my first experience I have been telling everyone they should visit you. This will not be the case from now on. I wanted to provide this review as feedback before updating my google review. And got a terrible response from the venue manager.
Have the chefs or staff changed? I’m really very surprised at the difference in our experience. It felt like a completely different place.
I have gotten better service at grilld and nandos than this...

We started with the charred octopus, which was absolutely stunning. The octopus was perfectly cooked, with a crispy, caramelized exterior and tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat on the inside. It was served with a citrusy, herb-infused sauce that added a refreshing balance to the richness of the octopus. The flavors were bold yet harmonious, setting the tone for the rest...
