Lovely restaurant, really delicious food which was unfortunately let down by the service.
When we were sat the restaurant was quite empty and it took a while to get our menus. Unfortunately it just got worse.
first food courses arrived before drinks
after we finished our first courses we sat with dirty plates for around 20 minutes, with no one checking in for drinks.
I had to call someone over to take a drinks order. We were not given a menu so I just ordered a basic drink instead of a cocktail . I also asked for water because our bottle had been empty around 10 mins.
when the next course was brought out, that’s when our starter plates were removed. We were sharing mains but asked if we wanted to keep cutlery (instead of being offered clean side plates and cutlery we had to reuse ones that were covered in sauce from the starters).
drinks that we ordered didn’t arrive until after we had finished food. So that was about a 20 minutes wait, with not even water to have with our meal.
We waited a while after finishing our food and came up to the counter to pay. Again, would have had drinks and dessert if it were offered but we decided to go elsewhere.
I understand it was a Friday night but the staff were all behind the counter talking a lot. No one checked in on our meals, offered us more drinks, topped up water. Wait times were huge and we had to try desperately to get someone’s attention if we...
Read moreWe visited for dinner on a midweek night. I ordered the Ma Hor entree, which isn't very well described on the menu so I asked what it was and was told a mince of pork prawn and chicken with the fruits. It was one of the smallest entrees I've ever seen. Wafer thin slices of pineapple with a spoonful on mince on top which fell off when you tried to eat it. I asked for this to come out before my main, however my main came about 1 minute later. I had the Pork Belly for a main which sounded delicious but was quite watery and mostly a massive pile of papaya and not much meat. 2 of our mains were served with our third guests meal coming out half way through us eating ours. We all ordered desert and I ordered a tea with mine. When I enquired whether they had tea the girl told me they had a "not very exciting selection of tea" however I felt like one so ordered an english breakfast. It was like they had never made anyone tea before. Our desserts arrived and we were all immediately shocked by how small they were. We had the chestnut eclair, watermelon ice cream and mango cheesecake. The chestnut eclair was ok, not great. Water ice cream was more like one scoop of sorbet, not great flavour. Mango cheesecake was more like a panna cotta and about the size of a golf ball. These guys are charging fine dining prices for food and service that is underwhelming and tiny portions. We...
Read moreHas definitely deteriorated since our last visit. I have been an avid fan of this restaurant for many years, recommending it numerous times to friends and strangers as one of the best places to eat on the central Sunny Coast.
But unfortunately, our recent visit was very disappointing. Nothing was "wrong" as such, but a distinct reduction in the attention to detail and inattentive staff that has made this restaurant so great in the past. Things like, not clearing plates (we ended up asking when there was not enough room left on the table), and then when clearing them scraping them at the table (WT!), having to ask for cutlery and plates, forgetting to place our child's order, which resulting in an extended wait for said child who already struggles being patient in this type of situation, messing up our bill and over charging us... and so much more... was certainly not the pleasant, easy experience of old and I will now be in no hurry to return. It is a shame, as it was so good previously and disappointingly I am now on the lookout for another dining experience as "our favourite" (Note: The Rickshaw seems to offer a great alternative so far -...
