I was eagerly anticipating dinner at this newly opened Tibetan restaurant, as visiting Tibet has long been on my bucket list. Excited to try Tibetan food for the first time, my husband and I ordered the beef and goat curry. Notably, the curries do not come with rice, so we opted for the garlic naan bread that our waitress assured was available.
The curries arrived promptly after we were seated, but we preferred to have the naan bread alongside them. Unfortunately, the beef in the curry was very dry and hard, which was disappointing. I reminded the Asian waitress about the naan bread twice as my husband had nearly finished half of his curry. Trying to slow down, I waited patiently. Disappointingly, as I was nearing the end of my curry, another waitress inquired if we were expecting anything else. Finally, the naan bread arrived after we had both finished our curries.
To our dismay, the naan bread was laughably small—about the size of my hand—and completely devoid of garlic. Our initial excitement turned into frustration.
I truly hope your restaurant can improve because our expectations and dinner experience were thoroughly ruined. A piece of advice: you won’t need a loyalty card because I won’t...
Read moreI have heard a lot of good things about Jampa’s. Sadly, service was awkward and slow. Two of the three starters weren’t available, which was disappointing as we went for the momos. The table that ordered after us received their mains at least ten minutes before we received our starter. That was unfortunate.
There were two vegetable curry options which we didn’t receive until an hour after ordering. Our plates were hastily clunked down on the table and overall we didn’t feel quite comfortable.
We tried the cauliflower curry and the mushroom curry. The cauliflower was lacking in flavour and quite watery. The mushroom curry was more like the sauce of a vegan carbonara.
Really hoping for more and came away underwhelmed. I am hoping a lot of this is teething pain and will be resolved in the coming months. I gave an extra star for encouragement. I can see that Jampa’s is very popular, I just wish we had a good experience like everyone else. Currently, I am not sure if we’d return.
For I believe $55 we had three samosas, two curries, and rice. For what we paid, I’d like to have felt more welcomed and for the quality of the curries to have...
Read moreHad been wanting to try here as I walk past it at work lunchtime every day and the aroma coming from the place as they prepare are tantalising. We had momos, prawn curry (cashew/coconut option) and goat curry (traditional Tibetan style) with rice. WOW. Both curries impeccable and FULL of the protein chosen. Amazing flavours, generous servings and friendly, welcoming service. Well done to all the team. This is the local, traditional, value for money restaurant Nambour has been screening out for and hopefully has set a precedent of what this town is capable of being. I hope the local community embrace what they are lucky to have. Don’t go expecting linen napkins, modern takes or cocktails. Expect family hospitality, passion in the food and a casual authentic experience. We will be back again and again, with friends. Not licenced but a tiny $2 per...
