My wife completed her final assessment of her summer schooling for university today and I decided that I would ask if she wants to get takeaway or go out for dinner (perhaps Thai). Her reply to this was "I know a place, just in Dicky beach"... I said "done!" Sooo...we got what we needed to do, finished for the afternoon and made ourselves presentable for dinner (it's hot ,so no frills, just casual and comfortable). We drove from Currimundi in my newly washed car and in no time at all we had arrived.... Walking into the venue,we must have been quiet,as the waitress didn't notice us arriving, but once she did, smiled and asked us where we would like to sit. It was still warm outside and I am susceptible to mosquitos...so inside it was. We were quickly brought cold water, glasses and menus and we dove in to see what to eat. Being both hungry after a long day, we decided quickly and went for the coconut prawns and soft shell crab... followed by the crispy chicken with cashew nut chilli sauce and the panang curry also with chicken, accompanied by jasmine rice. The entrees arrived in succession and both, were very tasty seafood dishes.
Once we had polished the delights off, the waitress asked if we were ready for mains, to which we both replied "Yes please"😀 The crispy chicken with cashew, chilli sauce arrived first and I grabbed a piece of chicken straight away, followed by my wife. We both looked at each other with a puzzled, yet happy look on our faces!! This chicken was GREAT!! The crispiness was light and textural and so tasty!! Next, the curry arrived, which I tried first this time, and knowing my wife's tolerance for spice, knew that the words " very mild" on the menu were maybe a little off... Don't get me wrong, it was yummmm!! I love spicy food and the flavour of the dish was totally there!! My wife steered clear of too much sauce, but enjoyed what she ate! We had both eaten our fill, so decided to take the remaining to go and finished up to pay... Everyone was very nice and when we waved goodbye and said to the owner "Thank you" she came out to see us off and check how everything went We gave her good reports, grabbed a takeaway menu, and said "We'll be back!!" And went on our happy, content way home again. Thank you Love You...
Read moreFirst of all, absolutely love the new restaurant name… very clever, very funny 😂
We were really keen to try a few dishes, so we ordered our own little takeaway smorgasbord - Dicky Fried Rice & steamed rice, Pad See Ew, Seafood Yellow Curry, Red Duck Curry & Oriental Noodles with beef.
Everything was so delicious… the fried rice was perfect - well flavored and abundant. The Yellow Curry was so fragrant and delicious; the seafood really generous. The Red Curry and duck were amazing - succulent, creamy and well balanced (a real chefs kiss !). The Oriental Noodles were a surprise; they sounded good on paper and were honestly even better in reality. Packed with flavour, they were delicious and will be on repeat order. Pad See Ew was another tasty winner.
So we’re feeling pretty chuffed about having such an amazing Thai in the neighbourhood … and having now tried the wonderful food, can wholeheartedly agree - we will “love you...
Read moreI had high hopes for this new establishment as I quite enjoyed the Thai restaurant it replaced. The young girl on the take away counter was friendly.
I was exciting to see bao on the menu, unfortunately it was disappointing. I paid $10 for 1 small bao which I feel was made on a pre bought boa bun. It was dry and lacked flavour even with the sauce provided. I draw a stark comparison however, riceboi sells large bao at $12 and 3 small bao for $18 and they are always perfection.
I also ordered Pad See Ew and flavour wise it was decent, the chicken was dry.
My goal of leaving a review is not to criticise, only hope that it can help a local...
