We went here for a 18th birthday breakfast. (A group of us from different areas, from different families). Covid19 meant we had to sign in. So we all lined up, squashed together as we all waited, lined up in the hot north sun. Then when we finally got inside the tin shed. Yes a restaurant in the back suburban streets, in shed made of tin. I kid you not! No insulation. Just a tin shed. Hot. No social distancing occured, when we were actually seated. I guess it was similar to being squashed in. Like a pack of sardines. We all had to cram in on one table (we told them we were from different areas, from different families). Yet we were all ignored, the blonde lady ploughed on, ignoring us instead in a abrupt, unfriendly, manner stood and waited impatiently, we all had to move and squash together tightly on the one table. (She wanted to squash in more people up close to our table). The table next to us was the same. It was not good. Hot, sweating, crammed in, no social distancing at tables. No social distancing between our group or the table next to us. It seemed to be, just keep packing in the people as many as they could. The heat was so overwhelming in a hot tin shed, especially with us being all packed in. My son felt faint. My stars are for quick delivery of food. The other being for a dark haired young waitress who smiled.
Usually all my reviews are 5 stars but honestly this experience overall was so disappointing.
The food was not good either. The croissants were cold, stale and fell apart. There was ham and cheese apparently inside the croissant but we could not see or taste it. The milkshake made my son want to throw up after he drank it. The seats were a hard plank of wood against a wall. The other free standing seats were slatted, hard bits of timber, garden chairs. Food was way overpriced in our groups opinion. I guess to get the tourists money, to pack in the people and charge big dollars before we all went back to our homes. As we were tourists from here for xmas school holidays.
It was altogether very miserable experience. Would we go back..sorry no. I saw a nice beachside cafe on the way to find this place. The other place looked so lovely with patrons enjoying the seabreezes, beach views, with socially distancing evident. The other place was near the beach at Moffat beach.
Anyways back to my review of this place. So after being here we went home straight away feeling sick and hungry. My son, as I write this, is in bed, sick in his stomach.
No photos as there was nothing worth taking a picture of. Cars in parking lot was our view or the tin shed.
I wish I had a better review. I guess, just go there and make your own decisions. This is just based on our one time here sbd baded upon our...
Read more3.5stars for the snobby hostess (3.9 stars for food) - wouldn’t go out of our way for this again, even though I really wanted to like it. I thought to provide some direct helpful feedback about the tiny table we were sat so that they could be mindful of better experiences for future guests. When someone has a baby in a high chair they WILL reach for the adult plates and as it were we had to put our cups on the ledge as there wasn’t enough room for 2 dishes and 2 beverages. The hostess was defensive and said we didn’t book far enough in advance, having only booked the day before. I worked in hospitality, I know that specific tables are not assigned at time of booking (unless it’s a special table or large party) - and there were plenty other 2 tops that would have given us a bit more space. It’s disappointing when they don’t own their improvement opportunities and then make the customer feel like it’s their fault.
The food was fine, except the burger was drowning in sauce. I didn’t rate the coffee. There’s plenty other great brunch spots close by like Sugar Mamas and Pocket, in a better location, that...
Read moreOne star for one of the staff’s shocking service. I don’t know her name but she’s the staff with a face tattoo. I ordered matcha latte and told the waiting staff no sugar pls. When I got the matcha latte, I could tell it definitely has sugar in it, so I told the same waiting staff that the matcha latte has sugar in it. She became so defensive and insisted they didn’t put sugar. When I told her I was 100% sure it had sugar in it. She then changed her words, saying “this is how our matcha latte tastes, it has sugar in the matcha powder. I can’t change the flavour according to your like”. If she knew it has sugar in it, she should’ve told me that their matcha has sugar in it, then I wouldn’t order. When I told her I didn’t want the sugary matcha anymore, she said ok and walked away. Shockingly bad attitude. If she offered to change my drink or a refund I’d be completely fine but she walked away. I then had to talk to another lady. She was so much nicer, went to check the matcha powder and gave me options to either change a...
