This place IS NOT SELLING HAND SLAUGHTERED exclusively. I was at the shop when chicken was delivered, it was NOT from fresh poultry. I have called FP and they have verified that they do sell to this shop. Please read the whole review.
Sub edit Also it has been brought to my attention that the dumplings are made off Site at another place, a centralised kitchen, which also processes pork dumplings.
EDIT to his response. I ate there on the 27th of September between the 1:45 and 2:15pm. There were meat deliveries and I looked at one of the boxes, which read "Country Fresh Poultry" or "Farm fresh poultry" which is clearly not Fresh Poultry. So even if he is buying from FP he is clearly mixing.
When I asked him once where he gets the meat from his response was something like "brother, don't worry I am Muslim it's on my neck"
If one is really buying meat and chicken from the right places, there should be no need for all this secrecy.
When you ask workers about the meat, they seem bewildered.
Edit 2 - To his response
Tried to call many times before posting this review and no one ever answers. Happy to do a tour of the place but on a time that we will visit impromptuly. Please let your staff know and I will visit one day.
EDIT 3 Went there today 7th Oct roughly about 1230pm to look at their fridge to see what they stock. The owner was not there however I asked him to call the owner to see if we can get access to the fridge because we wanted to see what was inside. However the owner refused and said that he needs to be there so I asked him the question what's the point of pre warning him that we're coming if it gives him a chance to clean up the fridge and only put Fresh poultry in there. It was simply a matter of opening the fridge door to show us what was inside and they could not even do that, the whole thing seems very suss to me. I am not issuing a fatwa that this place is halal or haram. I am simply sharing what I saw and...

Tried this for the first time :-
Noodles soup with coriander and chilli.... Pretty much the first dish on the menu on the NOODLES section:-
the aroma and heat was good
the flavour just tasted like chilli oil in soup. You could taste more oil than the actual flavour. The noodles didn't absorb the flavour in.
Texture of noodles was good, but lack in flavour as mentioned above.
The worst of it was the lamb skewers. Just tasted like oil and fat and had no chilli flakes and herbs and seasoning like you get originally from other Lanzhou places. It comes standard and comparing to the other Lanzhou places, the lamb pieces were EXTREMELY TINY.
Go to the Lanzhou restaurants in Hurstville, Burwood and even Liverpool Westfield's food court, it's so much better.
About service, staffs were nice, but could do better. However, overall there wasn't that much service since you had to order at counter first and pay before seating or eating.
The atmosphere was average. Still have the dining comfort. Not overly crowded or cramped when it comes to space.
In my opinion, overall, not worth spending $45+.
Other Lanzhou restaurants make their lamb skewers more texture, more flavour, more aroma, and even make the lamb pieces bigger. Where this one in Chester Hill, it's tiny, chewy, oily and fatty. Still had the oil dripping off the tiny lamb pieces and when you eat it, you can taste more oil than lamb.
Not coming back here unfortunately, but wish you luck. On the upper hand it's better than the Krazy bird nearby. Tried that last year and their noodles are just simple basic instant noodles. And they jack up the price. It's a rip off. If you want Asian in that area, best to be at the...
Read moreFirst time dining tonight, since the restaurant opened. Was looking forward to it for ages, since I first found out that the new store was going to be Lanzhou noodles.
Unfortunately, my experience has left me feeling quite annoyed, on the edge of actually being mad. The basic element of customer service in a restaurant is either to greet or acknowledge your customer. My partner and I went in and saw the sign to please wait to be seated. So we waited. Two servers saw us, yet didn't acknowledge us. It wasn't crowded or busy. We hoped the server that was closest to us, once finished speaking to the table would at least acknowledge our existence. Nothing. So we chose to sit down at a table. Still no acknowledgement as we watched each server carry on with their activities. I stood up to get myself and my partner menus.
As we ate, another customer had stood waiting at the entrance with her partner - also experienced no acknowledgement from staff and once she reached the counter to order, she voiced her frustration and anger and asked if that was normal practice and acceptable.
Being a new restaurant, you want to encourage people to come back. I'm wearing a hi-vis jumper and I don't see a reasonable excuse me why other customers weren't acknowledged. Either train the staff or remove the sign.
Food was fine - noodle combos with veg sides and also had lamb chops and doughnut. Noodles and soup was nice and flavourful and glad there were standard condiments like chilli, vinegar...
