4 Pines Newport — Restaurant in Sydney

We went there on Australia Day. A family of five - three kids and two adults. My kids (1y.o and 2) were very hungry so I went to order for them straight away. The MANAGER took my order, asked me if I needed anything else and I said that I was coming back to order more in a minute. He didn’t say anything else to me. Didn’t advise me that, if I ordered the meals together, I was going to get the kids meals for free. So I went to pay and sat back down with my family, told my husband how rude the dude was and we commented that he was probably annoyed to work in Australia Day. I’ve rarely seen such horrible customer service! Probably took me 60-90seconds to go back and order my main meals. The same guy (which I found later on was the manager! A big guy with the worst attitude) took my order and again didn’t tell me anything about the kids meal. At the end of our meal my husband went to get another drink and saw the offer. When I went to the counter to ask for why this wasn’t explained to me,another guy was about to give me a refund but then....the manager comes and says that it’s not possible because kids meals are only free when ordered at the same time with main meals. Would have been great to know at the time!!! So rude - unprofessional and plain mean. He refused to give me a refund. Food wasn’t anything special either. The relaxed atmosphere and hospitality of Luke and his team make this a great place to stop by for a beer and food. The locals are welcoming and happy to chat, the food menu is fairly simple but well cooked and with generous portions, the daily specials are interesting and exciting. The beers are well kept and the guest beers are rotated regularly. Having been in the hospitality industry for a long time, I know the importance of a customer focused approach. Everyone is greeted with a smile and a friendly word, the beers and the food are great, the variety of the background music playlists is spot on, the seating is comfortable, the lighting is ambient and the place is spotless. I arranged my sons 21st birthday party at the 4 pines Newport. Luke was so accommodating with lots of suggestions on what he could do. He organized a whole section of the pub, put aside for us in this beautiful location. On the day the whole team catered so beautifully for us, around 30 people. Luke and the team he's put together are truly awesome, food just kept coming and service was excellent. The team kept me well informed on the bar tab so I was always in control. I cannot praise them enough, everyone that came had such an excellent time, would recommend them heartily. Excellent fun to have the pub environment around us with our party going on.
