We were lining up for bulletin bar but the line was a bit too long. So we decided to try this underground bar - would be one of the worst examples of bar service I have ever received. When we arrived we were given a table with water glasses but no water, when I asked the waitress she grabbed the water and poured our waters and told me you will need to get up to refil them, semi table service I guess.
After flailing my arms in the air to get the attention of the waitress (I was ignored a handful of times) we finally ordered some food, after 40 mins we had to cancel because we couldn’t eat it in time to get to our gig.
After one of our friends ordered a classic gin sour, the bartender felt the classic wasn’t good enough and created some weird concoction of a sour, I returned the drink but the service from the bartender made me feel like I was wrong, like I wasn’t allowed to be unhappy. Most of our drinks seemed to have chocolate shavings on it, which I find strange. They forgot one drink (we ordered 4) and rushed to make it, it had a sparkler in it when it arrived (maybe to have a laugh at us, it wasn’t on the description).
One of our guests had a martini which had a twist and olives... definitely a faux pas.
We left unhappy, and upset with the way it was handled. The bartender did apologise and we weren’t charged for the food, but still felt underwhelmed in the drink department.
I don’t leave unnecessary reviews for the sake of it, but when all our friends talk about how bad it service/drinks were I had no choice but to leave a review.
I hope you get a chance to address the flaws in your business and understand customers will flock if you show them attention and compassion. Any average joe can put a bar together but takes attention to detail that can make your bar shine.
2 stars because the bar is cute and cosy.
Needless to say, but after our gig we went to Bar Patron, order 4 x $100 cocktails, food and enjoyed...
Read moreI previously rated this place very highly, and was very excited to take my partner here as we usually don’t have Italian, but had to because my first experience was great. Food quality is great, atmosphere is still romantic and charming. However this time was unfortunately marred by a rude waiter. He was blunt, didn’t reply to us or acknowledge us at all when he served our table or when we said thank you. When he first asked if we were ready to order, we asked for a few more minutes and he walked off before we could finish the sentence. When our mains came, he offered my partner Parmesan, and then turned away without even looking at me. I asked if I could have some too, to which he replied “no, your meal is very cheesy already and it does not need more”. I was a bit upset by this reply as it was not very professional, very blunt and frankly I think I am allowed to decide how much cheese I would like on my pasta... I have had this main before. He should have instead recommended not to top it with more Parmesan as the meal was already topped with baked Parmesan, but if I wanted more he could do so. Instead after saying no, he walked away. Obviously not wanting to seem rude by calling him back, I left it. The other waitresses were very lovely and so was the ?boss (in red dress shirt). We did have a brief word with him about said waiter being rude and curt, to which he apologised for and offered us a drink. We said no, since we aren’t trying to get anything for free. I probably won’t be back for a while due to this dining experience, unfortunately. I hope when I do come back the service...

This was a wonderful venue and wonderful dining experience. We were a little concerned about being underdressed (just casual day wear to explore Sydney) and the venue looked fine dining. The staff, though, were great: pleasant, friendly, and relaxed while remaining very professional and providing that air of fine dining. The head waiter (?) was excellent and provided projected that sense of class the restaurant was aiming for, yet making the patrons feel at ease. It was a casual fine dining experience. The food was delicious. We were craving some good Italian cuisine and the restaurant delivered. The antipasto della casa had some exciting cold meats and the bocconcini added a good contrasting texture and flavour. We ordered bread separately but should have realised bread would also be served with the antipasto. Fortunately, the bread tasted great and didn't fill us up. The ravioli of the day was lamb and was delicious - well cooked pasta, tender lamb. The ravioli sauce was amazing. My partner enjoyed her delicious penne con broccoli e gamberi. We also ordered the English spinach salad. This too was great and there was a lot of it (I thought it could do with some thin slices of pear or apple for the sweetness to offset the spinach because it was a large serving of spinach to get through but that's no big deal). Price point was good, especially for the quality and enjoyment of the meal. Venue was cosy and warm; and the...
