Gelato Messina Circular Quay — Restaurant in Sydney

The brunette girl with red nails has racist behavior. We initially queued before two guys. When we moved into the store (so did the guys), we walked to the left side to see the flavors, suddenly she scolded us to queue outside. Her attitude was very harsh, we were shocked and subconsciously moved to the back of the line again. Quickly I realized that we were falsely accused and tried to tell her that we were not trying to cut the line but she rolled her eyes and ignored us rudely. At that moment, the two guys were way ahead because we queued again. Another guy served us, he was nice. We were not sure if they have the rule that customers are not allowed to walk to the side to look at their fridge, so we observed outside the store, there was a big family standing right where we were and the guy was serving them to try the flavors, no one got scolded and this girl was serving a white lady with smiles on her face. I used to work in retail, I knew exactly what it means. Both of us were educated in Aus for years and we have been to many Messina stores in Melbourne and Sydney, this is the only time we met a staff like this, so definitely won't recommend and won't come to this...

The best gelato/ice cream shop in Australia FULL STOP!

I discovered Gelato Messina a couple of years ago and fell in love straightaway. And of course, I shared the love with my family :-)

I love going to this store (Circular Quay) after a hard day’s work, and trying out the creative weekly special flavours. The changing special flavours encourage me to broaden my palate and be amazed by wacky flavour combinations that on paper should not work, but actually do! They also improve on fond childhood flavours such as Iced Vovo (Vovoroom) and Golden Gaytime (Have a Gay Old Time).

The friendly staff are always happy to let you taste before you buy, and serve with a bright smile!

And best of all, my wife who can only eat dairy-free food doesn’t get left out - Messina makes amazing sorbets!

Hopefully Messina will one day make some dairy-free weekly special flavours to share even more love!

Located at Gateway Shopping Centre, 1 Macquarie Place, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 ( Opposite Circular Quay Railway Station) I love 🥰 my Gelato so it’s always great when you get the good stuff and Messina always delivers. The variety of flavours is wide. Today I got the passionfruit and Boysenberry and it was delicious 😋. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing too much trouble. The design of the store was welcoming, really lovely. So convenient and easy to get to by bus 🚌, light rail 🚈 or train and just a stone’s throw from Circular Quay, Opera House, Royal Botanical Gardens and the Rocks. Great for a little pick me up on a hot day or when you’re just munch! Highly recommend....
