Been there twice now. Terrible experiences both times.

First time I went there for "all you can eat" tacos with two other friends. They brought out one plate of tacos roughly every 30 minutes at best. After 1.5 hours and 4 tacos each, we were told they had run out of food, so in the end we had to pay $26 for "all you can eat tacos", which would normally be $24 if you bought them individually.

We went there again tonight after hearing good thing's from friends. We figured we could give it another chance and must have just had a bad one off experience the first time - we were wrong. We ordered our meals, which included the ribs and the pork belly that we requested come without the jalapenos. After an hour and a half of waiting (ridiculous wait considering we were the only customers there) the food finally came out. The ribs were overcooked and charred, and the pork belly was smothered in jalapenos. By this point we were so frustrated and all we wanted to do was get out of there, so we just picked the jalapenos off, ate the food and left.

Will never go back to this place again. I feel bad for the waiters and waitresses because it's obviously not their fault, but there are so many other better restaurants out there that deserve a good reputation...

Wow what a disappointment.

Alma went from being a great place to dine mexican to what it is now. New management or owners?

Don't really know but the value has dropped out of this equation.

The service was great, friendly staff all doing a great job, but the food was overpriced for what you get. Way different to our previous experiences there.

For example, a prawn taco with one prawn on it. Really?

And for $9... same with the fish taco, one small piece of fish. Afraid not, that is a thinly disguised ripoff masquerading as a fancy looking dish presentation.

Now for the main course, Kingfish very nice tasting but once again overdone on the presentation, underdone on the quantity of food for the price. I mean $42 for a main is not cheap, and you get a piece of fish the size of your palm.

I guess it also explains why on a Friday night, usually hustle and bustle busy for any restaurant, the place was half empty.

As they say you have one chance to make a first impression, and sorry new guys, you have failed to impress me in a good way.

Only regret is not realising this before...

The first time I ate here for dinner the service was awesome, the food was amazing and the staff were absolutely lovely. We decided to come back on Easter Friday as I received an email from Alma advertising special food just for this weekend.

Today the service was rubbish, one of the waiters walked past us a few times - our menus were closed and we were obviously waiting to order. He took the table’s order who came in after us and then we had to ask him to order and he seemed very surprised by that...took our order, didn’t even ask if we wanted drinks, we had to ask for that too. I have no idea if there even were specials available as I thought I read on the email, as the waiter never let us know. I did see a blackboard with a taco on it but we had already ordered.

Two items came out relatively fast and then 45 min later I had to ask where the rest of our food was. By that point we were just so over it the food didn’t taste particularly good. I feel like that was the biggest waste of $100. Definitely won’t bother going back again as there are so many other...

So this restaurant like like a typical premium westernised Mexican restaurant. The staffs looks professional, one of them was so welcoming and friendly. He also told me that the tacos are $5 not $8 like in the menu, idk why. I ordered scallops, fish taco, birria taco, and pork belly taco. scallops was alright from the presentation, nicely seared, but one of them was slightly undercooked but it’s fine for me, I also love their purée. Birria taco was ok but a bit warm (maybe because it’s sitting there to wait for another tacos. This birria taco doesn’t have a dip sauce. Fish taco was also good, not too dry. And the last one the pork taco. This is my favourite, but the chunks were too big and it’s a bit hard to eat, I know cutting thinly is very difficult after roasting, maybe they can pre slice it before roast or deep fry like Chicharrón. Place also looks beautiful and classy, they also provide a clean toilet. Also the kitchen located at end of the hallway through the toilet, so it’s semi open kitchen, customers can see the kitchen and it was really clean as well

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Alma Restaurant and I must say, it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the inviting atmosphere and the aromas wafting from the kitchen. The menu at Alma Restaurant is a food lover's dream come true. With a wide range of delectable options, it was difficult to choose just one dish. However, I highly recommend trying the grilled corn, short rib dish, honey halloumi and coconut margaritas - they were all simply divine. What truly set Alma Restaurant apart was the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was perfect. Their attention to detail and their genuine desire to make each guest feel special is out of this world. I am already counting down the days until I can return to Alma Restaurant and explore more of their menu. It truly is a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered. Treat yourself to a visit and prepare to be amazed. Buen provecho!

The good: Vegan options are surprisingly quite good! It's rare to find a Jack fruit taco that actually tastes good, they captured a grilled and smokey flavour.Prices were average for tacos, but I've never been a fan of $7 tacos - but everyone charges this price in their defence. The Las Veganas Empanadas were GOOD and at a fair $15 price, if you're vego - order these! Cocktails were tasty. The bad/not so great: The table had some food smudges, after asking for a clean, the waiter sprayed and wiped... and the smudges were clearly there but he walked away leaving us with a still dirty table. One of the water glasses we were given had fibres and water marks (the photo had a hard time capturing this). The weekend had a 10% surcharge for service, but they forgot one of our dishes and we had to remind them despite paying this surcharge - left feeling a bit unsatisfied with the service. Might give it another go at a later date because their vegan options are a rare find in Mexican food for Australia.
