Highly overrated!! The chai was okay to good. The downside was that the hype in marketing didn't match the expectation. It's a small place with just enough space for 4-5 people to fit in. Outside, they have tables for groups. It was a 30-minute wait to get chai for 4 people. No good/real food options that can go with chai other than rusk. Of course, chole chawal isn't a usual combination with chai. No idea why they have it in the menu. For kids, Nutella Roti is a good option.
Did we have a good time with friends? Nope, coz 30 min wait at a chai joint is a no no. Plus, Chai is supposed to be served in small chai glass, not beer glasses.
Post your reply to my above review, I want to ask if you expect everyone to know everything, do you? Other than your website, the concept of Ambi's chai isn't there anywhere and nope people don't have so much of time to check social media before visitng a place. What's up with the "not travelled" and "home country" thing??? Lol and not cool at all!! The response that you gave me could have been framed in a better way I guess! I would have loved to see your story somewhere at your bar to have some context about your concept. Are you assuming people to read your website before they visit your bar?? I think that can be doable only if you are good to people, but not with this ATTITUDE that you're showing here!! Nope...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisappointed with the level of service, wait time, not having things which are on the menu.
I have been visiting Ambiās really often and it is 35 mins drive from my house. We just used to do their for the vibe , tea and some good food . But from my 2nd visit I realised they always say oh we donāt have this food or that food. I mean first of all you have opening timings which is limited which is annoying because sometime you want to go there before 4 PM but you canāt, anyway that part can be still be ignored . But making us wait in a queue for 10 mins for placing the order (I was 2nd in the queue) but still they were slow and didnāt pay any attention to waiting customers .Then when you ask for food literally they said no to 3-4 things I asked . I mean itās funny you have limited veg options and that too you donāt have any of them. Anyway I placed the order of just a chai and that chai took 30 mins.
I mean I would be a fool if I keep coming back to you by travelling half an hour , getting this kind of service and āNoā to most of the food options. Itās a Shame because itās a nice concept and whenever I got an opportunity(yes itās an opportunity if the food you order is available no matter what day of the week you visit them) to have the food it was good. So all in all they can do wonders with this joint but made a disaster because of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood Indian tea. The kind that we say āek chai ho jaiā or letās have a tea (any time of a day). Ambiās tea was spice flavoured (ginger and pepper burn) and the right amount of milk. In a glass tumbler to added authenticity to the lovely ambiance of a tea stall anywhere across the subcontinent. We arrived at 6 on sat evening and got ours quickly but it soon filled up in an hour and was packed and spilling on to the sidewalk. Exactly as a tea stall should be. The loud hum of conversation, cars. On point. It is a perfect place where you spend time chatting with friends or family and not worry about time taken for your chai, for when it arrives it is pipping hot and with bold flavours. The next round of teas were more milky and less sweet (Smokey and Brooksyās) but the flavour were right on top. So will ignore the oversight of more milk due to the massive crowd and rush. If you ever wanted to know how a proper Indian tea is usually made with spices, this is it. Not the chai lattes (whatever that is) or the blends or from so called tea houses or other Indian restaurants in Sydney. Try Ambiās and then you will have a baseline of what a āchaiā is, on a roadside in India, having to break away from the rigours of society and life expectations. Just a nice, spicy chai to...
