When it comes to pizza, everyone has their favorites. Some swear by the thin, foldable slices of New York. Others love the thick, cheesy layers of Chicago deep dish. But no matter your preference, one truth stands firm: a truly great pizza doesn’t just happen—it requires passion, skill, and a certain magic touch. After countless visits and slices, I can confidently say that Eden has that magic. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Eden isn’t just good at his pizza-making job—he’s phenomenal.
From the moment you step into the shop where Eden works, the difference is clear. The smell hits first: a blend of freshly baked dough, roasted garlic, simmering tomato sauce, and just a hint of smoky char from the oven. It’s the kind of aroma that makes your stomach growl even if you swore you weren’t hungry. And Eden is the one orchestrating it all.
The Dough: Foundation of Greatness
Let’s start with the base of any pizza: the dough. Eden treats dough like a science and an art at the same time. I’ve watched him prepare it, and there’s no rushing the process. He measures carefully, kneads with precision, and gives the dough the time it needs to rise and develop flavor.
The result? A crust that’s nothing short of perfection. It’s got that satisfying crunch when you bite into the edge, followed by a chewy, airy interior that tastes like it was made with care (because it was). Many pizza places either overdo it—leaving crusts dense and dry—or underdo it, turning the base into a floppy mess. Eden strikes the perfect balance every single time.
Even on its own, his crust is worth savoring. I’ve caught myself finishing the ends of slices with the same enthusiasm as the cheesy, topping-covered parts, which isn’t something I usually do. Eden’s crust makes you rethink what “just bread” can be.
Sauce and Cheese: The Dynamic Duo
Next comes the sauce. Eden’s sauce is proof that less really is more. It’s not over-seasoned or drowning the pizza—it’s subtle, tangy, and lets the freshness of the tomatoes shine. There’s a brightness to it that elevates every bite without stealing the spotlight.
And then there’s the cheese. Melted, gooey, and perfectly browned in spots, Eden’s cheese work is incredible. He uses fresh mozzarella that stretches in long, satisfying pulls when you lift a slice. On special pies, he’ll sprinkle in sharper cheeses that add character and depth, showing he knows when to stick with tradition and when to get creative.
Together, the sauce and cheese create a flavor combination that feels timeless. Every bite has balance: creamy, tangy, savory, and satisfying.
Toppings: Creativity Without Chaos
Eden’s toppings are where his personality and creativity really shine. He doesn’t just pile ingredients onto a pizza; he curates them. Whether it’s a simple Margherita with basil leaves placed just so, or a bold creation with spicy sausage, caramelized onions, and roasted peppers, every choice feels intentional.
One of my personal favorites is his seasonal veggie pizza. Instead of tossing random vegetables on top, he picks produce that’s fresh and in season—zucchini in the summer, roasted squash in the fall, and earthy mushrooms in the winter. It makes the pizzas feel alive, like they’re celebrating the flavors of the moment.
But Eden’s true genius is knowing when to stop. He never overloads a pizza with so many toppings that it becomes soggy or unbalanced. Each element has its place, and nothing feels...
Read moreUPDATE: 'Gusta' dinner is back! Why? Because of the efforts by the owner to explain as to why we experienced 'bad' service at that time. Knowing how popular they are, it would not matter if they lose a customer but, what he did is a testament that this place value each of their customers. I am updating with 4/5 for service and atmosphere, due to that experience, but food wise, always great. We had their supreme pizza and pasta and prawn recently. And as expected, very delish.
---‐------- This used to be our preferred pizza place however the last experience was a breaking point to not order from this place again. We ordered for picked up in an hour. When arrived, the staff told the order wasn't ready and would require for an additional 15 minutes (which was all cool, they were busy and happy to wait). Upon ff up (that was already almost 1hr 20mins since ordering), the staff told they lost our order, meaning, there was no order being prepared from the start! It was poorly handled and it seems the staff weren't really concerned/apologetic how everything was messed up. So we have decided to just get our money back and left. A few days later, we discovered that the refund was NOT PROCESSED so if we didn't checked, we paid for something we did not receive. It was a very...
Read moreExcellent food, good service, mediocre atmosphere. Gusta’s pizza bar has a great selection of food on offer and a creative selection of cocktails to accompany them. The food definitely lived up to expectations, being some of the best pizzas we’ve had! The food alone is a great reason to pay them a visit. The drinks were decent too, and the bar tender demonstrated great service by gladly making slight amendments to drink orders, and presenting them in a timely, friendly manner.
Whilst the bar tender was excellent, the rest of the service was good without excelling. There was no welcome upon entry and after being seated we were left unattended for a while. As customers are seated, a simple offer of water and follow up on drink/entre orders would greatly improve the welcoming experience.
The low point of the venue is the atmosphere, with extremely bland decor, empty wall space, and chairs that were in need of repair. It’s not bad, but it’s not something you’d write home about either. You definitely come here for the food and not the ambiance.
Overall, we had a great night, pay our compliments to the kitchen staff, and give a big thanks to our bar tender. We will...
