When you first approach The SEAT (South East Asia and Thai), the unassuming decor is reminiscent of most other Thai restaurants. Casually dressed waiters were polite and friendly when we entered. The restaurant is cozy, but comfortable.
Reading some other reviews, we decided on the "Awesome" Deal; a 6-course banquet of prawns, fish chicken and veges.
Specialty entree platters started us off, spring rolls, coconut prawns, steamed dim sims, and Peking duck wraps. Well flavoured and fresh, I was surprised that we all got one of each (many restaurants will skimp and make you share).
Following this, we received soft shell crap with papaya salad, stir-fried veges with garlic and black pepper and chicken pad thai. The crab was beautifully cooked, crispy on the outside, juicy inside.
At this point, we were all starting to fill up. I remembered then, that there was still 2 dishes remaining. Golden snapper in four-flavour sauce and The Seat king prawns arrived to a groan from the table at the anticipation of more food and, although we couldn't finish them, both dishes were delicious!
For $30/head (at time of writing), value for money definitely...
Read moreThe food was very nice. I ate choo chee Atlantic salmon on vegetables. It was an extremely delicious meal. I only gave 3 stars because their air conditioner, which was turned off at the time was heavily contaminated as you can see in the photo, please scroll in. There was a smaller air conditioner in the back corner which I asked to be moved well away from as it also had signs of contamination. I'm unsure if it was operating as I moved quickly away. I experienced difficulties including a tremendous headache after sitting in the restaurant a little while. I assume that's the contamination in the air conditioner or the restaurant itself harboured too many inflammatory microbes. So I've left with a headache and feeling sick. I'm hoping their food handling practices were good considering my other experience there as the food really tasted a 10/10. Portion size was adequate and cost just over $25, so not a cheap meal but reasonable. The wait staff weren't friendly or smiley, they just seemed to do the polite minimum. I quite enjoy a little more hospitality and...
Read moreThe food is always good and I am a regular. This time only giving 3 stars. Firstly I ordered 3 dishes and was most unlucky. The dishes themselves are very good but 3 combined, the choice was over done with sugar!! Much too sweet. The Choo choo prawn curry, the banana blossom salad and the soft shell creamy sauce. All 3 had overload in sugar. If just one of the dish ordered with others, would not be so bad but with the 3, it was a terrible load for my body. The seat fried rice is nice.
The second issue. For a crowded dining eventho not full house, the tiny air-conditioning was not effective. It wasn't a terribly hit day as the day before but as it was humid, the room was really really unbearable. Sweating buckets since we were at the opposite diagonal end to the air conditioning, we were just hot hot. We kept asking for serviettes to wipe ourselves.
We will still eat at the Seat BUT not to order the dishes that are loaded with sugar and to pick cold or cool...
