Asquith Club — Restaurant in Sydney

Not a great experience unfortunately. We ordered a steak medium rare & it was very well done. The staff were accommodating & gave us a credit for a free meal next time, we weren’t really keen to come back, but thought we’d give it another chance. Next time round we ordered the schnitzel & burgers. The chicken schnitzel was so oily, & you could see that the oil was old, as it had a burnt flavour & was inedible. The buttermilk chicken burger was so dry, not moist at all unfortunately & the cheese burger was cold. It must of been sitting there for a while, whilst the other meals were being prepared. Their main meals aren’t great value but the portion sizes of the children’s meals are beyond disappointing. For $14 you get one small piece of fish and about ten chips. I should have taken a photo but given it took all of 10 seconds to consume such a minuscule meal, there was hardly the time. I tried to politely pass on this feedback in person. One staff member quickly agreed but the other asked with an eye roll if I “go to other bistros” and know how much things cost. Ah… yep. Have been to loads and for $14 we’d usually get a decent meal with ice cream and a kids activity pack included. Maybe they don’t want families there. Then why have a children’s menu? Or a playground? We booked for 14 people expecting a nice lunch together. We had to wait 1hr 10 minutes to get our food. The club was very clearly understaffed and the staff were running to try to feed and serve the many patrons. There was only one woman working the bar the whole time we were there. We spoke to the manager on the way out and he didn't apologise or acknowledge that his staff were working so hard, he just kept making the excuse that it is a public holiday. Assuming he meant he didn't roster more staff on because he would have had to pay them more. Very disappointed in management.
