There has been a noticeable change in staff/ management in the last few weeks. The previous staff were very friendly and customer focussed. They were forthcoming with information about products and how to use their rewards program to maximum effect. It was a pleasure to deal with them.
The new staff are quite far from that standard. They do not know their products. I had to show them products from the website on two occasions. They do not give useful instructions on how to use the rewards program. My first customer service representative failed to even mention it until I asked, and then I was told that I couldn't use it because the transaction was over. She proceeded to tell me that I needed to scan the app barcode as soon as I arrived. Today, when I arrived I did as instructed and was scolded by a different customer service representative for not waiting till I was served. She expected me to inherently know the ins and outs of using their very unintuitive rewards system as if I worked there which is a poor attitude.
I waited my turn as she rudely informed a customer that her rewards card would no longer be valid in future, and then began my engagement with an apology for my ignorance. The representative, however, had no interest in listening to me and just wanted to proceed the transaction along.
It's left a bad taste in my mouth and I would rather make my own bread at home than subject myself to such customer indifference. I find myself wishing the old staff were back.
I guess I'm spoiled. I frequent another local food outlet where the staff over about 15 consecutive visits are much younger but unbelievably customer focussed and friendly. I have never once not been asked if I wanted to use the rewards program. They remind me even if I forget. And when I was new to it they even took the time to walk me through its usage.
I know customer service is variable across the board and having worked in a customer service position I know that the pleasant experience I described above is a high standard that not everyone will meet. I'm fine with a lesser standard, but I think the standard I have experienced over the last two engagements at Baker's Delight Kings Langley falls short of what any Australian consumer should have to put up with. Had I shown that level of indifference and discourteousness when I served customers, I have no doubt my employment would have been terminated.
I don't leave Google reviews unless I feel it's necessary, but here I feel it is, for the bakery to revisit who they have dealing with customers, and for the public to know what to expect. We are miserable in lockdown. Consumers don't deserve to have their limited outing allowances marred by...
Read moreI was about to buy pineapple and cheese bread for my 2 year old baby, but I found that there were some burnt black charcoal piece attached on the bread, so I tore it off without touching the bread, but then I found lots of black spots on the bread, which didn't seem to be clean, so I asked for an exchange, but the young girl who worked here rudely said that my hand had touched the bread, so I couldn't exchange it, and she even told me that the black spots on the bread were okay to eat. I would like to point out that it should have been her job to remove the burnt charcoal from the bread, or to clean their oven; and as a consumer, I should have the right to choose the best product instead of being forced to accept the substandard “edible” dirty bread. This young girl not only did not have the care and compassion for the weak and vulnerable baby, but also did not have the basic attitude and ability to provide...
Read moreI honestly don’t know what’s going on with this particular Baker’s Delight, but it’s consistently disappointing. They’re always sold out of basic items like wholemeal bread — and I mean always. You’d think a bakery that prides itself on “fresh daily baking” could actually keep staple products in stock, but apparently not.
Even when I go early, there’s nothing. And after visiting several days in a row only to find empty shelves, I’m no longer convinced they’re baking fresh on-site at all. It genuinely feels like the bread is being brought in from elsewhere — and not recently.
How can a bakery that supposedly bakes daily be out of wholemeal bread four days straight? It’s absurd. If you shop here, just be aware you might be paying bakery prices for bread that’s...
