Shameful how the Caffe del Nonno seems to have suffered blatant shrinkification - do not be deceived by earlier photos as it now is served in an absolutely minuscule shot glass of about three-four spoonfuls) and served with half a wafer broken in half. This is very disappointing as everything here is authentic as can be, as good as it’s counterpart Lucio (which we are long-term customers of too) and true Naples quality. Sensational pastries. My Italian partner was singing its praises. One of the female staff members serving was also very rude with us (the Italian lady was lovely, however). Perhaps she was stressed due to it being popular on a weekend and I understand we all have bad days. But this, coupled with the insulting size of this iconic drink, left us rather put off. If you are wanting to profit more from the cafe del nonno or sell it in smaller quantities please consider offering different serving sizes (like any other coffee or drink). It is not even worth ordering at the current size, unless it is to leave your client laughing in disbelief when it comes to the table. You have an amazing product here with both Lucio venues and we are so grateful to enjoy both, but please re-consider what impression this leaves. I hate to leave a negative review on a brand I love as I know it impacts, but I also feel in this financial climate it’s important to voice concerns...
Read moreA Delightful Culinary Experience at Lucio BarI recently had the pleasure of visiting Lucio Bar, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail in the food is truly commendable.First, let’s talk about the sandwich. It was incredibly aromatic, with a perfect balance of flavors. The bread was thin and crunchy, providing just the right amount of texture to complement the fillings. Every bite was a joy, leaving me wishing it would never end.Next, the Caffè del Nonno was a privilege to have. It was smooth, rich, and indulgent—exactly what you would expect from a classic Italian coffee. It’s not just a drink; it’s an experience that wraps you in warmth and comfort. Finally, we ended our visit with a pastry that was, without a doubt, one of the crunchiest and most flavorful I’ve ever tasted. The filling was top-notch, bursting with rich, niche flavors that perfectly capped off our meal.In conclusion, Lucio Bar offers a culinary experience that is both sophisticated and satisfying. The care and skill that go into each dish are evident, making it a place I would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates fine food and a well-crafted...
Read moreI hate to rate a small business badly, but I've been 5 or 6 times now in the hope of a good experience and trying to support small/local, but it's been ordinary every time. I'm genuinely baffled as to why it's always busy - probably because there's no local competition.
It's VERY expensive, even considering recent rising costs. $15.50 for a B&E roll and coffee, or $14 for a thin sandwich with meagre fillings (that aren't special and dont justify the price).
Their milkshakes are always warm (I had to put my in the fridge at home once so it was drinkable), their filled pastries are very dry, stingy on filling and have nothing on other patisseries in neighbouring suburbs, and they cook the eggs for egg and bacon rolls to bejesus, so you get a pale, dry, rubbery egg that tastes like....well, nothing when it's been cooked like that (and that's not a one-off - I have perservered with those 3 times). They're pretty awful and the price of them is quite riling when you consider what you get.
Cannot recommend. 2 stars because they've styled it beautifully and I don't want to...
