Visited this place sometime back.
I was really looking forward to having the Spicy Chicken Sandwich & Fries and had a really good feeling that the food was going to be on point.
It was..ok to say the least. Not great but ok.
Spicy chicken sandwich & fries:
First off, the pickles; it could be better by having the pickles inside the burger instead of on the side. I understand that its a little trend that is going around at the moment, but it was a little messy trying to fit the pickles in without the burger falling apart.
The chicken; surely the protein was cooked really well but the coating was bland and had very little flavouring. It could do with a little bit more "travellers spice" on the chicken to make it "pop" and give it more flavour per se. Your main ingredient on the menu is chicken- make it cluck.
The sauce; this was a big let down. It was almost non-existent. Do not get me wrong here, there is sauce but there was barely enough to help elevate the flavour of the burger. The sauce is one of the most important ingredients on a burger let alone one of the establishments main selling point on the menu. Make it shine with the thigh fillet! It's the burgers highlight and what makes it different from the rest of the burger joints in Sydney. Could do with a bit more "good good" sauce on it for the future.
The fries: I love crinkle cut fries but the serving i got was flat- ie not crispy. could do with a little more cooking on it. Was not too fussed on this.
Drumstick with travellers spice: Same ordeal- minimal spice on the drumsticks. Juicy yes, but KFC had more flavouring than the drumsticks I ordered. Its a big selling point on the menu, show it off to the patrons. Could do with more seasoning on the drummies.
Drink: In house lemonade: This was really nice to have. Not too overly sweet or sour.
Every place deserves a second chance- I just hope that the team takes on said feedback for the next visit because there is a lot of potential here for Belles to be a really good joint for...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant for lunch today and it was a wonderful experience. For my meal, I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and potato mash with gravy, accompanied by a Pepsi Max. I must say that everything was cooked to perfection and served at the correct temperature. Despite the restaurant being busy, I was able to secure a table quickly thanks to the efficient service of the head waiter, Jeremy.
I was also impressed by the exceptional service provided by my waitress, Hilary. She was very accommodating when I suddenly changed my order from fries to potato mash, and without any hesitation, made the switch for me. Her pleasant demeanor and willingness to help made my dining experience even more enjoyable.
The restaurant's ambiance was delightful, with great music playing in the background with Latin vibes. To my surprise, they had a bottle of Fernet Branca, a popular Argentinean drink, which mixed with Coca-Cola, is simply delicious. It's rare to find this drink in bars in Australia, so I was thrilled to see it on the menu.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top-notch. The head waiter, Jeremy, and my waitress, Hilary, both contributed to making my experience enjoyable, and I'm sure they'll do the same for anyone who visits. I would love to come back to this restaurant and try some of their other dishes - if they are anything like the spicy chicken sandwich I had today, they must...
Read moreOverall a disappointing experience. I was expecting to be able to order pieces of chicken but was told they only serve wings and tenders. I was hoping for juicy thighs but the thighs only came in the chicken sandwich. Ordered the 6 wings (wish they had removed the wing tips as who actually eats those), chose the side of slaw and added the mash and gravy. The southern style wings were unseasoned and quite bland. Half of the wings were very well done, verging on burnt. The peach iced tea was too watery and had only the slightest taste of peach. The mash and gravy was ok but the gravy tasted odd. The slaw was dry and needed more dressing as well as seasoning. Carrot was noticeably missing so it looked very boring. Overpriced for what it was but couldn't fault the view or the ambiance. I think we got ripped off as the menu under the wings says to "select a side" implying it was included (there was no price mentioned next to the side), so I ordered the slaw and then was charged $5.50 for it. There were only 2 other tables at 2pm on Saturday. The bill was over $70 for 2. That would buy...
