We've been going to Bijolias for years. The service is wonderful - warm, welcoming, sincere and efficient. And the food makes it easily the best Indian on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
All of the dishes are generous portions with fresh flavours, tender meat and perfect amount of spice/heat. And, you must start off with a samosa - they are huge and really tasty. And for mains, all the dishes are great - this visit we had the Bhuna Chilly Lamb which is Lamb pieces pan sautéed in spicy masala with capsicum, ginger and fresh chillies as well as the Chilli Tikka Masala which is tandoori chicken simmered with roasted onions, fresh coriander, fresh chillies, ginger and shallots. I love the Chilli Tikka Masala - totally delicious.
Other favourites of mine - the Saag Gosht - delicately spiced tender lamb in a spinach and fenugreek gravy, Beef Chilli Lime - slow braised spicy beef cooked with banana chilli, fresh tomatoes and lime and the Bijolias Daal - a classical blend of 5 lentils braised with tomato and ginger juliennes, tempered with fenugreek and cumin. And a new favourite is the Subz Malai Kofta - seasonal vegetable dumplings in a onion, yoghurt sauce with cashew nuts and sultanas - delicious.
The chef will cook according to the heat level you request. We love medium and it's always cooked the way we like it.

Read moreThe best Indian in Sydney - simply incredible food. For twenty years we've been going to Indian restaurants in the UK and Australia with friends Nicki and Fritz. Tonight we finally joined them at Bijolias and the food & warm, friendly service blew us away. Manager Anibs and her team are so professional, efficient and friendly.
Our meal began with the chicken tikka (boneless chicken marinated with ginger, garlic, yogurt and Bijolias garam masala, served with mesclun lettuce and honey- cumin dressing) which was succulent and delicious - the perfect way to start off our meal.
We then shared four curries (1) Nicki's particular favourite the chilli chicken tikka masala - outstanding flavour. (2) saag lamb gosht with melt in the mouth soft meat and great taste (3) beef vindaloo and (4) Bengali Mustard Prawn Zhinga (a prawn delicacy with mustard seeds, fresh ginger-garlic, paprika and fenugreek) which was extremely yummy. Rice and multiple serves of plain and garlic naan made the meal perfect. All curries were very generous serves - lots of meat/prawns and gravy.
And on arrival you receive complementary corn, grain and nut mix plus poppadoms on arrival. Service is wonderful in...
Read moreThe food is ok, but not ground-breaking. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in Sydney that are at least as good. My main issue with the restaurant and ultimately the reason why I only rate it 1 star is the complete lack of service. I have never experienced such a slow and incompetent staff. They gave us the menu after 25mn roughly, and after 2 hours in the restaurant, we were still waiting for the main to be served. We had 2 young kids with us, and ended up leaving the restaurant with take-away food... Safe to say that I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone with children. The main issue, from what I could see based on the number of takeaway customers is that they give priority to takeaway food and the clients inside the restaurant (4 tables at the time) end up paying the price for that. Again about the service, we asked for "hot" (with chili) and got "mild" (they forgot the chili), which is not such a big deal but still worth mentioning and added to the...
