The one good thing about The Entertainment Book is that you discover new places you wouldn’t ordinarily visit. Kohinoor is one. Sitting predominantly on the main strip of Seaforth, this is a surprising little restaurant sampling flavours of the subcontinent.
We chose two mains, plus roti and 2 mango lassi. Whilst this was coming out, they brought out some pappadums and mint and lime raita as an appetiser - on the house. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, as it was a little chilly outside, and seemed to be popular with the locals as it was half filled on a Thursday night. My mum was in hospital at the time and I was on my way home after spending a couple nights there with her, I was super hungry and it was open so I came in, sat down, and ordered the butter chicken and a beer. After the owner informed me (over 10 years ago) that they were byo only (they supply now as well) I was a bit bummed, especially cause vintage cellers across the road was closed. The owner then told me to hang on and about 20 minutes later he arrived with a 6 pack of VB. He drove all the way to Deewhy just to get me a beer. Ever since I have been a regular customer and have never been disappointed. You can't find better Indian food anywhere...
Read moreThe food was excellent, we had chicken balti and jahlfrezi, the peshwari naan in particular is very good. Portion sizes are very reasonable. BYOB on wine though there is a good drinks list available. Service was very quick and helpful, though it was quiet when we visited. Was better than expected, would recommend.
