An absolutely amazing walk. This forms part of the Bondi to Manly walk, and I highly recommend you do the whole thing (in stages). I don't know if there's anywhere else in the world where you can be so close to bush and beach, and still just a ferry ride away from the CBD. ⛱️ Beaches and views galore! Plenty of spots to have a dip if you choose, in many beaches not easily accessed by car. ☕ If you're looking for a coffee, Contarf is your main spot before you hit the more remote areas leading up to Manly. 🚻 There are toilets spaced pretty evenly along the route, all marked on Google Maps. The longest stretch without one is Clontarf to Dobroyd. 💦 There are bubblers about as often as toilets, but I recommend brining a bottle/spare, especially if it's hot. 🚶‍♀️ There are a fair few stairs. I think anyone who does a bit of walking should be able to manage, there are plenty of spots to just pause and have a rest. Remember, everyone gets out of breath on these stairs, don't take it personally! ❗ There are some amazing pieces of history: from Aboriginal engravings (Grotto point) to where Prince Alfred was nearly assassinated (Clontarf) to the first contact site between the First Fleet and the Gayamaygal people (just south of Manly). ✨ Enjoy this gem of Sydney! ✨

Great walk! So much to see, beautiful views, birds. On a weekday afternoon in August, we took the bus to Spit Bridge. We crossed the brisge and started the walk. There are signs along the path, no need to worry about getting lost. Because we did the walk during low tide, we were able to walk along the beach in several places. The first half of the walk was definitely harder and had more stairs and more uneven sections. I was glad we started at Spit Bridge. It had rained in the morning before we started so there was lots of mud and puddles on the trail - we just had to be a little more careful where we stepped. Our toes were wet by the end. You will definitely need running shoes for this path. Also, be sure to bring water for the walk. We likely only passed 30 people in the entire trail - it was much quieter and more peaceful than the other walks we did. The scenery was beautiful. The walk ended in Manly and we rode the ferry back to Circular Quay. It was a beautiful ferry ride - seeing the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House from the water was magical.

One of my favorite walk, hike, running trails. It’s a must if you want to feel like you’re far away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. I prefer to start hike at the Spit Bridge then following the long trail to Manly. Use google maps or follow the signs along the way. You could hike the trail either way…. But when you end in Manly you’ve got the beach, shopping and plenty of places to eat and have an adult beverage after the long hike. Great stops along the way for taking in the beautiful scenery. This trail is not beginner level. It has lots of ups and downs and usually is wet with puddles in some places. A few private beaches to linger at as well if you want to enjoy the beautiful waters along the trail. If you’re out of shape, don’t go. I’m almost 60 and not fit but this trail is worth every step. Plan on a two to three hour adventure. You can take the bus to Spit or a $24.00 (Australian Dollar)Uber ride, which I prefer. Then in Manly, take the ferry back to Circular Quay. Also suggest that you go on a week day, weekends can be a bit busy.

Took a 6yr old boy with me on this 10k walk who did the whole walk easily.

Caught 144 bus towards manly, got off b4 spit bridge, went to public toilets, walked under bridge to get to other side. Nice kids playgrounds at clontarf reserve. Walked around the back to the beach and to end to start the real walk. Yes a few stairs but nothing taxing, as there are rocks and park seats etc throughout the journey, bring water. There was a kid selling water on the path on Sunday.

There is a fork for Arabanoo lookout. Don't take it as views nothing special see my pictures. Ie stay on path.

If low tide, it is great to walk past the ship repair yard (do not go up the hill to your left) on the sandy muddy puddles towards the last bend near manly. Can't remember the name, it was in front of a reserve before Fairlight. Your kids will have tonnes of fun jumping in the little puddles.

If u want time to explore Manly beach or even walk up north to curl curl, after using the public toilets on aquarium side before you get to ferry, , u need to walk to manly ferry, turn left to cross the road and walk past Coles, priceline, hungry jacks etc to get to manly Beach. It is fun to walk along the water barefooted with waves lapping...
