I have eaten Pho, all over Sydney, I can't get enough of the stuff. I am afraid the quality of what we have right here in Engadine at Billy's Bowl might be lost on many of those who haven't tried it before and aren't sure what that mysterious bowl might contain. Even if you are a meat and 3 veg. type, give it a go. We have the best here in Engadine and if you try it at Billy's Bowl you won't be sorry. That isn't to mention all the other fine dishes that they have at Billy's Bowl. There is a huge menu that covers most, if not all your favourite Asian dishes. I still have to try many of them. Why? Because, even when I have made up my mind try something else. I order the Pho, but the chicken wings are great, five spice pork rolls, satay and sang choy bow are all delicious. Service is professional, staff are wonderful. About time we had something more than just sweet and sour and fried rice, here. Thanks guys for bringing the best of Asian cuisine to us in Engadine. See...
Read moreThought I’d give Billy’s Bowl a try, hoping for a decent laksa, considering it’s a Vietnamese / Malaysian restaurant. I ordered the chicken laksa and unfortunately was very disappointed. The soup was very watery / diluted and super pale in colour. It lacked any punch or depth of flavour, best described as “milky fish sauce with noodles”. Zero fresh aromatics or vegetables just chicken, noodles and a soggy tofu slab. Weirdly they also velveted the chicken which gave the chicken a weird gelatinous texture, definitely not needed or nice or fresh. Service was super quick, only 10 minutes & the atmosphere seemed pleasant enough, though I did have it as a takeaway as I live locally. Sorry Billy, unfortunately it’s a one and...
Read moreUnfortunately I cannot share the acoloades others are writing up. The food was ok-ish but was defintely lacking. We had san choi Bow, there was a lot of onion but very little meat. The lemon chicken had very little sauce and the lemon wedges have been extremely small and could not be used for moistening the rice a bit more. Everything was served on platers and was lukewarm at best when we got it. I commented on the lack of sauce and was told that I should have said something. In my humble opinion if you serve rice there is no question there should be a decent amount of sauce to moisten the plain rice. Furthermore, the helpings were very much on the smallish size. We will defintely try other places...
