I find myself gravitating towards Petersham in the recent weekends to scour new cafes. And this weekend, we land ourselves in Brighton The Corner which has been on my hit list for a while but just been distracted with others that have been popping up in this area. Now I am kicking myself for not visiting sooner! Perhaps I was influenced by what has been said about their slow service on Foursquare. It seems teething issues are settled and this place is running in a much faster pace.
The tip to not queuing in popular cafes like this is to hit it early. It’s no different to Brighton The Corner. I have to say that we were also fortunate that there was no queue due to the bad weather.
They serve Little Marionette coffee here and it is delightful! One of the better milk based coffee that I’ve tried in the last couple of months. The menu is small but sufficient to satisfy most people.
I ordered the braised beef brisket ($17). It was served with potato hash, mojo verde, poached egg and onion rings. Don’t be fooled by the bowl that it is served in! Looks like a small portion but it isn’t.
We also ordered sausage and beans ($17). Another very hearty and filling dish. It came with a generous crumble of moorish morcilla, 2 fried eggs with googey yolk to die for and green tomato salsa to balance the dish....
Read moreI love this café. I go there all the time. The staff are all lovely. They always greet you with big smiles and service is excellent. They have an incredible sweet Matcha Latte. They've even memorised my favorite coffee order, and sometimes they start preparing it as soon as they see me walk in haha.
The food is always on point, always fresh and full of flavour. They make PERFECT poached eggs. I'm not vegetarian but they have a few different vegetarian options. Juices are great too, always made fresh in front of you. Portions are generous, and prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is lovely, there's always nice soft jazzy music playing.
My only thing is that I have a sweet tooth and there are only a couple of sweet options, but if you don't you'll be fine. There are heaps of savory amazing different options.
That's just out of preference tho, I always have the best experience there. It's my go-to brunch café when I have friends & family staying over. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. If you are looking for a cute café or a low-key brunch spot in the inner west, this...
Read moreBrighton the corner is one of the most underrated cafes in the Petersham area mainly because of its main competitor brothers ben being across the road though these cafes have a lot of differences. First of all the food at Brighton the Corner is better than brothers ben so if your going for breakfast it is a lovely destination. It has less customers than brothers ben so you will get your food and drink much quicker. It has good smoothies but if you want any other sweet drink go across the road but it will take quicker so if you are in a rush it is a good thing but the real negative about this place is that the coffee is incomparable to Brothers Ben, that is the main difference between the two but if you want to have a nice breakfast with your family this is the recommended spot ( just maybe stop at Brothers Ben on your way back home...
