This place has a charm of antiquity and abandonment with the old aqueduct, railroad bridges overhead and the graffiti covered canal. The flora provides plenty of shade while the bridges and locked gates cast magnificent shadows. This would be the perfect spot to film a dystopian future scene in a movie. The lack of water to fill the channel is a bit sad, but I’m guessing it’d be lovely after a nice downpour. Unfortunately I didn’t see the turkey that was mentioned on the sign at the entrance. My overall take away feeling, though, was one of dustiness and neglect. I’d like to go back after a rainy day, though.

The reserve is quite small but it connects to the Greenway walking path through to Leichhardt, Haberfield and the Bay Run. Though small the park is fascinating with the train tracks overhead, new and old , and a beautiful stone water pipe viaduct. There is a dog run area, although there were a couple of psycho people with enormous dogs telling people to stay away on one of our family walks past. Though usually locked there is some great graffiti under the rsilway bridges.

A lovely oasis for the inner west. Spotted a couple of Gweela (Brush Turkey) chicks. They burrow out of the nesting mound and are required to survive on their own from day one. They are able to walk and fend for themselves immediately; they’re able to fly just a few hours after hatching.

My two Star rating is only because this reserve is in a dark and dingy place and if you are going there at dark hours, it feels unsafe. Also, it does not have any water available or bins at the park. Otherwise, it's a wonderful doggie Park where you can let your dogs off the leash and not worry they will run away. This is it's biggest draw card. It's probably the only fully fenced Park in Summer Hill where you can let your dog off the leash. The other draw card it there is graffiti art work...
