We had been following a blog which featured Nuriyah cafe and some of their signature dishes. The cafe is located at ‘the hub’ in Gregory hills, a fairly new fancy dining district on ground level and business centres upper levels. The type of food serving at Nuriyah is modern Lebanese food. Most of their dishes can be viewed on instagram which look pretty, colourful and beautiful textures.
We tried their hummus topped with mince lamb and pancake dish. My first impression of Nuriyah was their striking interior especially the floral wall and the writing ‘love at first bite’. Though the two dishes we ordered definitely had no love. The hotcake posted on instagram showed a colourful, vibrant and fruity pancake served with different berries. I thought that was what I was going to get but instead we received a blueberry pancake that was green on the outside, blue on the inside and a blue yoghurt base. In my opinion too much colouring, not enough natural ingredients and flavours didn’t mesh well together 👎. Only upside it was beautifully plated 👍🏻. Second dish I actually wanted to try the fatteh which I showed them a instagram phone but the staff member had no idea what it was ☹️. The chef came out to us and explained what the dish was, so I was getting excited i could finally get what i want! Guess what? We didn’t get the fatteh, we got the hummus dish which looked completely different. The dish is served with minced lamb on yoghurt, roasted almonds, chickpeas, pomegranate, some green leaves and fried bread. My first bite I thought it tasted pretty nice but until you get through it slowly, you’ll find the dish very heavy and oily to eat.
Perhaps the dishes we chose today were not to our expectation but Nuriyah tried making a beautiful dish. Other dishes that caught my eye and would like to try next time include the breakfast tower, crepe fettuccine and falafel bowl. Hopefully my second review will be better than the...
Read moreWas attending a dental appointment next door for my wife. and kids were hungry thought id get some coffee and chips to go. note store Was busy ✅️pros. the blonde girl who took my order 10 out of 10 for service although she was new. she had a great attitude and was helpful. hot chocolate was really good ❌️cons. Spoke to barrista told her i wanted extra hot latte with 2 sugars. after 2 sips... got a warm milk with a hint of coffee. Spoke to barrista about the coffee instead of remaking it she told me "we will adjust the grind in the future.!!!" $4.20 for warm barrista milk. was told by the blonde girl she would deliver the chips when they were ready to the dental clinic whic was kind of her.👍
went back to dental clinic skulled the luke warm coffee milk.... 2 sugars greeted me on my last sip, with a warm, diabetic crunchy hug!!!!! 🤦♂️(note to barrista.stirring the sugar in helps). did not do toby's estate coffee any justice.
they were busy as i was aboit to leave the detal clinic around 12.15am the lovely girl shows up and gives us the chips. she apologized and said they messed up in the kitchen. $7 for small chips which were cold and i swear they counted out the chips..🙈🤣. kids did not even eat them.
overall your business is good as your weakest link. Promote the blonde girl, re train or fire your barrista. and hire some more staff. if you talk the talk....walk the walk. Felt like a gordon ramsey episode where the kitchen staff are running around doing stupid sh!t 🙈goodluck with your business. dont think ill be spending my hard earnt money...
Read moreThis cafe gives an amazing impression, especially on social media. The presentation of the food and the cafe itself is beautiful, however we were saddened to find out that this cafe didn't quite live up to how it looks on the surface. When we arrived we were greeted and told to wait and she would find us a table. We watched as she moved a seperate table off to the side, spaced away from the rest of the seating area and not even visible from the counter. We were then greeted by our server who took our order for a breakfast tower, coffee and juice. 25 minutes into waiting and the breakfast tower arrived. Another 5 minutes and we began wondering about the drinks; so I went to the counter and asked the barista who seemed shocked that we weren't given a table number and were seated away from everyone. She hadn't received the order for our drinks and made them promptly, but this seemed to irritate the floor staff who were already treating us differently to everyone else. Every other table received table water, a bucket of utensils and napkins, salt and pepper and were also routinely checked up on, however we were ignored. When we asked for napkins, the server pointed at the napkins and then said "they're over there if you want them", then brought some over without words and huffed as he put them on our table before walking off quickly.
I am not the type to write bad reviews but this entire experience was very disappointing.
The barista was lovely, apologetic and made an...
