TL;dr Highly recommended cafe, great food, wonderful service. Details below.
Quaint cafe located at the back of the street side building, facing Phoenix Park.
It's brightly lit, with lovely open planning and atmosphere sporting an order at the counter set up. Staff were always friendly, welcoming and warm which is strong display of top notch customer service.
We ordered the Ube Taro Bingsu and the Kaya French toast. The French toast was nice and puffy, large and very well cooked. Soft to touch, easy to cut and much like air. The serving of Kaya on the side was surprising and given the large size of the French toast (imagine 3 slices of bread thick and 1.8x the overall size), I imagined it would not be enough. But on a small dish, there was more than enough to properly cover the French toast and have MORE than enough for the sides and each cut of the bread. Not being stingy with condiments is a phenomenal reflection on the mentality of the kitchen and the ownership.
The Bingsu was thoroughly enjoyable, not overwhelmingly sweet and a decent serving. The photos don't do it justice. With the brown pearls, it's an exquisite dish and worth travelling across to Rhodes for. We ordered the small which is more than enough for 2 people, but you can order a larger one for 3-4 people. Looking forward to trying other flavours in the future.
With an order of a delectable warm taro latte, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. Spoke to Sharon who's (one of?) the owner(s), who was quite amiable and quite personable. Treated my partner in an affable manner considering we were there for a special occasion. That kind of service and thinking is above and beyond, ensuring that we'll be returning customers for the foreseeable future.
Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed. Plus, on a sunny day, you can grab some nice snaps with the greenery in front...
Read moreThis is my main go-to cafe in Rhodes where I am always made to feel welcome. Sharon has done an amazing job, developing a plant-like garden themed cafe with a difference! She has enhanced the spirit of the community resulting in her cafe being requested on a number of occasions as a venue to hold community based and educational meetups. All her highly trained staff share the passion of providing good quality food, service and a vibrant and happy place to enjoy great coffee, along with a variety of special treats. Catering to those who may want a slightly later start and wish to dine a little further into the evening, it provides for a great place to relax, study, play board games or meet new people. Thank you Sharon for your valued and appreciated contribution to the...
Read moreWe ordered the Tiramisu Latte, Kaya toast and Ube Taro Bingsu. All 3 were well worth it and pricing was well reasonable. I've had Kaya toast at various other cafes before, and they tend to give a tiny little smidget serving of Kaya that you can barely spread across the bread. The Kaya served at Cafe Botanica was generous, and the friendly staff even asked us to let her know if the Kaya wasn't enough and she'd give us more. The Ube Taro Bingsu was amazingly refreshing, it was served with a side of condensed milk but even so the sweetness was just right. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even gave our baby girl a sticker. The cafe has a neat little tucked away location, and we would love to come back again to try the other savory dishes...
