Visited on its first day of opening and were really hype about a new HK eatery around the corner. Saw the cooks in the kitchen shoving the wok like he knew business and felt like we were in HK and had high hopes.
Sat and looked at the menu and 10 min in the restaurant, we sensed something odd. We saw many customers looking around and calling the waiters to confirm their orders. We quickly ordered 3 dishes and waited patiently for 40min. No food came. Customers who came in later than us had their orders and were eating away. Another waiter came and he couldn’t find our order and we re-ordered. Waited for another 20min and 1 dish came, followed by another 1 dish 15min later. 20 min later, another waiter informed us that our veg is out of stock with difficulty as he could only speak Cantonese. We told him to cancel our order. When we went to pay - cashier was not informed of our cancelled order but managed to pay the 2 dishes that came.
We observed several other encounters between other customers and the staff. 4 different groups were seated on 2 round tables. Constant wrong orders were given to the wrong table and customers. Staffs were unsure which dishes to serve to customers. They look very inexperienced. 1 incorrect fish dish was served because the customer walked into the kitchen and returned the fish to the kitchen by herself as the waiter was too busy to entertain her. Few customers left and paid for the dishes they ate - they didn’t wait for their other outstanding orders. Waiter came with the dishes 20 min later to different customers and looking puzzled. Cashier didn’t inform the waiter or kitchen, wasting time and ingredients. A couple of ladies ordered and waited for 40min but no food came. 1 waiter came and retook their order. After waiting for 30min, they asked for their food but that same waiter said he will retake their order. Feeling flustered, the customers asked regarding the issues on their orders but that same waiter pushed the blame on other waiters saying it wasn’t him who took the order and blamed his own colleagues. The ladies were shocked and replied him that he was the same waiter who took their 2nd order but that waiter continued to deny. The customers left without any food. We were disgusted by his actions by blaming his colleagues for his own mistakes. All the waiters assumed that every Asian customers could speak Cantonese. We don’t speak Cantonese and only able to speak English and they have a shortage of staff who can speak basic English.
Overall experience: truly disappointed for this eatery: lack of communication between staff members ordering system was not updated, very disorganised for a restaurant inexperienced and unprofessional staff ill preparedness to take on the crowd and were ambitious to allow different groups to sit on a large table overpriced, small portioned and average tasting food extremely slow service
Restaurant looks packed due to the long waiting time from the above given that it has been a week since its first opening, not because of the great food and service - so DON’T BE FOOLED! Few of our HK friends informed us that this place is not popular or unheard of in HK. May give it another chance but not in the near future.
Best of luck to you and your future customers who wish to...
Read moreJust had dinner here tonight and here's my honest review. Got here at 6:30pm on the dot and the restaurant was full already but tables were turning pretty quickly so we did not have to wait long to be seated. I think the service is to be commended. I interacted with 3 or 4 wait staff and they were all well mannered and super responsive, the food came out super fast so it looks like they have made some improvements in this department since they opened 4 months ago, which is why i think these reviews are helpful for businesses to identity areas for improvement. On the food side, after reading past reviews we were expecting portions to be on the small side but we were pleasantly surprised. I'd say the portions sizes are just about right for the price, except maybe the beef hotpot which was full of ginger as a space fille, but I get that beef is an expensive ingredient. In terms of taste, this is where I would take some points off. Overall, some dishes were great (eg. The Fukien fried rice) some dishes were ok, some dishes were inedible (eg. shredded chicken way too salty), so I would say the food is 50/50. That said, a dai pai dong is never meant to be a 5 star dining experience. Did it meet my expectations? Absolutely. The business is still relatively new so they are probably still finetuning their recipes to get the taste just right. Would I come back again? Sure, I'll just be sure to avoid the dishes I didn't like and try some others. And hopefully they will take this feedback on board and improve their recipes. Speaking of feedback, the wasabi mayo is horrible, the sauce is green and oily and sugary with no wasabi flavour whatsoever. Your menu will be...
Read moreWe recently had a terrible experience here where we were waiting for over an hour just for the last two remaining dishes. The photos show the dishes that have arrived within 30 mins while the fruit punch was 30-45mins long just for it. After receiving the drink, it tasted like it is 100% artificial flavouring. The fruits in the drink taste like the fruit cups that you have. We have decided to not have the fried rice after waiting for an eternity. After drinking and eating the food that had arrived, we all felt like we were all going to vomit our lives out.
The service is more terrible than you could imagine. We attempted to ask the staff member when our fried rice and drink would be ready but they ignored us. We tried multiple times to get the attention of the staff, but all failed. When the staff gave us the sweet and sour pork, he was as if throwing a ping pong ball towards us. And for the other dishes, almost identical.
As we went to pay, the was an astonishing 10% service fee!! Come on! For that kind of service we experienced we still have to pay 10% of our meal!! This is outrageous. When we asked the staff about this service fee, they said nothing at all, just stared at us as if we did not exist.
The food was mediocre at best. The sweet and sour pork was more like ‘oily pork’, and the one with chillies was more like ‘fake meat with red chillies’. The jellyfish was pretty good although there was some weird stuff inside.
Overall our experience was more terrible than we could imagine. DO NOT COME HERE!!! Unless you want terrible service, poor food, unreasonable service fee price and...
