(1) Miso Soup is spot on. Recommended. If add some Seaweed could be even better. (2) Edamame is great. Not too salty nor over-cooked. Recommended. (3) Agedashi Tofu is great. Recommended. (4) Cucumber Baby Roll must had been made hours ago. Not refreshing. Not recommended. (5) California Roll taste ok. But dissembled upon contact. Which was the exact opposite of the Cucumber Baby Roll. Seemingly these two rolls were made by two different Sushi Chef at different time ... which is quite unusual for a small place as such. (6) My boss like the Fry Rice. But I found it tasted bland. (6) My boss found the Stir Fry Udon too sour for her taste. I found it too sweet to my taste. Either way it is NOT our cup of tea. Will avoid all "Yaki" dish hereafter. Despite there're room for improvement, surely will be back to try out the rest of the menu. Suggestion : may be adapted to the local taste a bit too deep, becoming less authentic & more a fusion (more often than not would ended up as "confusion"). Suggested practical steps as a start are : Japanese Green Tea/Rice Tea & Pickled Ginger. May 3, 2024 (1) Vegie Salad is great, crispy & refreshing, especially the tasty dressing. (2) Edamame may be a little bit over-cooked this time but still well within the range of being "great". (3) Gyoza Vegie is interesting. It's deep fried rather than pan fried. Dipping sauce is tasty too. (4) Dinner Bento Box - Miso Soup is great, with Seaweed this time. Sashimi - Salmon is good, Tuna is not fatty at all & too thin sliced therefore it's kinda blend (it is normal given as it's part of a Bento). Tempura is great (personally I would prefer some Mashed White Radish in the dipping sauce but this is not a must). Beef Stir Fry is also kinda blend. Spring Roll is nice & crispy but the sweet sauce is really not my cup of tea. (5) Stone Bowl Rice is great. My boss find it a bit spicy ... I find it not spicy enough !!! & I would much prefer to add chili powder instead of extra chili sauce next time. Forgot to mention ... the service is...
Read moreWe have been going to Caringbah Sushi for a while and really liked it. Lovely food and very reasonable. However had a very bad experience with a couple of takeaways.
First time they gave me someone else's order and I had to drive back to swap it. No apology was offered but I let it go.
Second time they forgot one of the servings of rice and the salads which are supposed to come with the main courses. My partner went back to get them and the staff there refused to give him the salads. They said it wasn't on the menu, my partner picked up a menu and showed them where it said mains come with salads. The staff member old him those were "old menus"... even though that same staff member had handed us that menu half an hour ago to place our order and there was a pile sitting on the counter! Again, no offer of an apology for any inconvenience or confusion, they offered to give us salads but at an extra charge. Really angry and disappointed by this treatment. I hope the manager sees this and contacts us as we would love to go back. I would have sent an email to the restaurant but there is no way to contact them through...
Read moreWe have been going to this restaurant for many years when it was Kanakawa and now as Caringbah Sushi House, so we have always enjoyed the experience. However, last Saturday night was terrible. We waited for half an hour for the first entrée to arrive, with another 2 coming around twenty minutes later. Unfortunately, the last two entrees didn't arrive for another 40 minutes, only for two of the mains to arrive one minute later. Even then, the rest of the mains arrived at different times over a 20 minute period. The complimentary salads used to receive didn't come until we mentioned it, and then we only received 3 for 5 people. This time the food was average, the service was terrible and to make matters worse, the bill included food that was never delivered. I doubt...
