Food Allergies Beware!
We recently visited this restaurant called “The Station” in Wahroonga. We were pleased to see the menu had several Gluten Free options. I ordered a GF meal and checked with the staff that it was suitable for a coeliac. I was assured that the GF options were safe.
We were very impressed with the taste of their ravioli. I asked how they made gluten free ravioli taste so good. The waiter didn’t know so he talked for over five minutes to the chef and the manager. He came back and told me that they were unsure how it was made as they just buy it from the local IGA!
We were suspicious that the meal was not gluten free and went to the IGA after paying for my overpriced meal. The IGA manager informed me that their IGA does not sell Gluten Free Pasta or Ravioli!!!
The waiter, chef and the manager of “The Station” lied about gluten free options on the menu and lied to my face about what I was eating. When we went back to the restaurant to show that the IGA ravioli was not gluten free, they did not apologise for misleading me, nor offer a refund, and the manager complained that they shouldn’t be expected to cater for guests with special dietary needs.
As a coeliac my health and wellbeing were placed at serious risk. This was the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant since I’ve been diagnosed with coeliac disease. Anyone with a food allergy beware. This restaurant...
Read moreArrived before the friend I was meeting. She picked the restaurant due to its proximity to the car park, for both our convenience.
Ordered a cold pressed juice, only to be told they were all out. Drinks were apparently bottled, not freshly made as I'd expected from the title. Instead, I ordered a lemon, lime and bitters, which arrived in a jam jar, not a bottle, heavy on bitters, light on the lemon.
Friend arrived, we ordered falafel shawarmas and chips from the limited menu. Falafel was very dry, and the shawarma was overwhelmingly sour - too heavy on the dressing, perhaps, but quite unpleasant. I couldn't finish mine. Chips obviously frozen and tasteless, not fresh.
Wasn't going to say anything, but the cashier asked how the food was and I told him. He told me he'd never had any complaints before (which I wouldn't have done if he hadn't asked) and told me he'd pass on that feedback. Hopefully he will.

Read moreThis is 26 dollars, your call. The bread is half the size of your palm, two oily fried eggs, 3 tiny sausage. After the dish was send to our table, I asked the waitress to come over twice to check with her if this is the “Lebanese Breakfast”, why does it look different from the picture? No falafel, no beetroot hummus, she double confirmed that this is it, and I have to pay extra for the falafel and beetroot hummus which was written on the menu as part of the dish. The owner who was making coffee( I assume he was the owner, not sure) was busy talking to other customers close to him, we’ve called the waitress over twice to enquire about the dish, I’m sure he noticed and just didn’t care. We drove 15 minutes to try this cafe, will...
