Apologies, might be a long review but need to finally say it. I don't know if its just me, but my order is always forgotten. It has now become a running joke in my family. 6/7 times they have forgotten our order and after we patiently wait, (and orders 10 numbers after ours are served) we query, and no one has any idea of the order. And you know what I Order? A family size chips... that's it. Sometimes I add to order just in the hope it gets it moving but its always the chips...Today was kind of the last straw. The shop wasn't even busy when I ordered. An employee took my order, then disappeared out the back after and I didn't see her again for the 25-30mins I waited. I was ticket 56 and it got to ticket 68 before I finally approached ( despite the fact I had been standing there for 20mins and employees kept looking at me, never asked if I was waiting on something) Eventually I grew impatient and approached the counter, the guys there didn't even acknowledge me but eventually a girl at the deep fryer noticed and asked what I was waiting on. No one had any knowledge of the order. Eventually the young lady got my food sorted. And here's the part I should mention. She made an effort to come outside to where I was standing and hand me my food. She also offered me a stamped card that gave me some amount off my next order. I didn't even realise they had rewards cards. I declined it. And if anyone from the store actually bothers to read these reviews (I very highly doubt!) please let the lovely darker skinned lady that was working Wed 20/12/23 that tried to help have my apologies for likely making her feel bad for not accepting. To her I probably looked like a random customer mad cause I didn't get my food but it has been a continuous issue that made me not want to accept. I hope someone relays that to her. I had to rush and didn't want to sit there and explain all this while she was trying to work. My kids love the chips but I'm very VERY unlikely to return here unless I'm forced at gunpoint. But even then I might opt against going. There seems to be a real lack of organization or handing over of orders. Like if someone takes the order they should own it. But it seems to be a mentality of just keep taking orders and then staff have to rely on memory to sort multiple orders at once. I'll say this. If anyone out there wants to open a chicken shop in lane cove where you just need to focus on organization and customer service, you will absolutely dominate area in now time. And hire the lady I referred to in this review. She seemed to be the only one to genuinely care about the customer, and customers remember that. I for one wont be back. A few times maybe but can't help but feel its something personal...
Read moreI bit the bullet and ordered here to see if the roast chicken was worthy of being on the radar. Should have trusted my instinct, was disappointing.
Something as simple as rating charcoal chicken requires a deceptive amount of meticulous analysis to get the balance right.
Skin: 1/5 The chicken is under-roasted and my order lacked sufficient colouration. Suspect that it was rushed. Stuffing: 3/5 This one is a fundamental requirement to a good chicken. The flavour of herbs and mash consistency is key. This one was surprisingly ok in taste, when compared to the drab concrete grey paste it comes in. Very dense. Meat: 0/5 Undercooked. Raw and blood pooling in the cavities. Zero and disgusted. Chips: 1/5 Can't rate a charcoal chicken shop without the classic vanilla accomplice. I gave the shoestring fries the benefit of the doubt and ordered anyway. Too many were overfried and far too crispy. The seasoning lacked a decisive chicken salt kicker. May be a matter of personal preference but I don’t think the shoestring fries worked well. Value: 1/5 Compared to other shops of a similar nature, definitely overpriced. A quarter chicken and chips combo comes in at $11.90 without a drink. Menu: 2/5 Not a bad selection but there’s some seriously weird options like Japanese coleslaw. Basically seaweed tossed in and wasn’t touched. Verdict: 1/5 Regret. Never again. Would...
Read moreEntered at 530pm on a Thursday evening. There were 3 people waiting to order before me. I have seen it vastly more busy at other times. It seemed that there were a number of orders being filled on the go at that time, including online orders. Despite there being at least 4 staff at any one time out the front, it took over 10 minutes to be served at all - all I wanted was a portion of fried rice from the window and a can of soft drink, as I knew I had somewhere to be in 30 minutes (recent experience tells me I couldn’t risk waiting longer for a burger etc to be prepared, hence opting for a ready made option)! A further few minutes passed whilst staff replaced the rice from the window (which I understand). To top off a less than desirable service experience, to be charged $16.30 for a (medium?) rice portion and can of soft drink seems pretty pricey. Picture taken during eating. Perhaps if the service and quality of food was better I’d be more forgiving of the price…The number of poor reviews here lately should be a clear flag to the local franchise that things need to change here! Query if anything will actually change, because in a high density area such as Lane Cove there will always...
