The club is an awesome spot to play bowls, however the admin required to reach this point warrants a 1 star review at best. If you call the club (and they actually answer) be prepared to speak with the most unenthusiastic, incompetent bloke of all time. Amongst my friendship group, our ratio of playing bowls vs attempting to book is approximately 1:20. Our most recent experience came after a week of calling and leaving messages (it should be an immediate red flag when a business’s answering machine says “leave a message and we might call you back, if not call again”), until finally I got through to the aforementioned bloke. We penciled in a date and time, after which he said to call back with the exact numbers and pay the required deposit. Within 15 minutes of ending our conversation, I attempted to call back and of course was greeted by the unenthusiastic bloke on the answering machine. After leaving a message and spending 24 hours calling on an hourly basis to no avail, I finally got through to a slightly more enthusiastic employee who informed me that somehow during the past 24 hours they managed to book out the...
Read moreGreat place, depending on the time of day can be a real fantastic atmosphere. We've arrived here multiple times showing our international guests the coastal walk. 2/3 of our experiences, our guests were fascinated by the location and kindness of the employees. The other time, we were greeted by an older lady behind the bar who just sucked the life out of the experience. Empty as you like, she made us sign in, and had a real face of "why are you here!". In case it wasn't obvious... we are here to spend our money and have a drink love, what else is your purpose other than to serve the people in the community? Nevertheless the other staff in the place helped recover the bogged mood that she was giving off - probably skip this place on weekdays before lunch, otherwise this is a good place to end up for...
Read moreGreat club with great views, all staff were lovely except for one of the managers (think his name was dan?) with the beard. Incredibly rude and hostile throughout, shouting at guests because of what they were wearing (some people don’t understand that there is a dress code and there is a polite way to inform them). Constantly making derogatory and patronising remarks to guests, we were a group of English and Irish and I was told to do the buttons up on my shirt, however one Australian was allowed to wear a pink bucket hat with sunglasses inside? Completely ruined the atmosphere of the place and feel so sorry for the staff that have to deal with him all day, they all looked...
