This is the worst RSL I have been to I am proud to be sixth generation Defence and I'm proud to say my husband is currently a serving member. So perhaps this is why I value the RSL so highly and did not expect the kind of treatment I received I do just wish Castle Hill did prawn's and food's I'm able to eat like they do here. I don't think I'll come back to Blacktown RSL in a hurry though. Firstly, the queue to get in was long. The lady who served my friend's friend for all of us. I said she wasn't paying for me but she would not give her a refusing to give her a refund even though I and my friend both said i didn't know my pin. She just said "oh well work it out with her". Now I think this lady was the manager because she wasn't just at the front payment desk but also out on the floor checking the food table's. The place was over crowded and very noisy, so loud. People were pushing and shoving for food like they'd never seen food before. The staff were nearly all Philipino's which is fine if they can speak English. I went up to a couple to ask where to put our plate's because our table was full they just looked at me blankly and spoke to each other in Philipino. Then I went up to another lady doing the pancake machine and I didn't understand but she was pointing down towards the toilet's. There were only toilet's in there, so I came out of the entrance and put the plant's on a clear area of bench which made her very angry. The people in the line just stared at me the Kiwi girl at least gave me a pitying smile. It was so embarrassing! I felt so uncomfortable and to make matters worse she started gossiping to another customer about me in Philipino. I have a lot of friends who are Philipino so I knew she was talking about me most of the patron's where Philipino. If your a blonde Caucasian you feel like an outcast to begin with but when they are unhelpful to you because your white but going to the kitchen and bringing out foil and a plastic bag so another Philipino can take a half a Pavlova home I think that this place is incredibly racist towards white people. I asked the lady who got to take home the Pavlova if she was friend's with her and she said no. I couldn't even get some salmon without the rice because I cannot digest rice and my friend's sister said it was because she couldn't understand me. I don't want have to go there with my Philipino friend's only I would like to be able to go just With my family and not fear being treated badly because I'm white. I understand that a lot of people have been very cruel, unkind and racist towards Philipino people but I have not ever! And that doesn't mean that is an excuse for the staff there to be racist towards...
Read moreI visited the Blacktown Workers Club on 25 May 2025 as I am a member of the Club. I needed to withdraw money from the Cash Connect ATM at the club. When I did, the transaction went through but I did not receive the money. I was also charged a service fee for no service rendered. I spoke to the Manager Sam who was very unsympathetic, and told me to stay at the Club for an hour as the money may be credited back to my account. However, this did not happen which stressed me out. He said he will contact me the next day to check the surplus when they reconciled their accounts. I did not receive a call so I called them. Katie the Manager told me they did find a surplus for the amount I had wanted to withdraw but I had to go through my bank to dispute it. I contacted my bank and had to put in a dispute form which can take up to 4 weeks, and I have to pay an investigation fee of $25 to get my hard earned money back. Till today I have not yet received a courtesy call from the Club, being one of it's loyal members, to tell me whether the money has been credited to my bank. The Club is happy for us to spend our money on the Pokies, and not helpful at all when members ask for their assistance when we lose money through the ATMS on their premises. The Managers are useless, and do not go out of their way to help their members. This is disgraceful and I will be contacting Consumer Affairs if I do not receive my money. Blacktown Workers Club has deteriorated over the years in their service to...
Read moreWe had a family gathering for lunch here for my mother's 80th birthday. My 25 year old son had forgotten to bring his identification. I knew before we got there but as we would be in the Chinese restaurant within the club we didn't expect a problem and he wasn't intending to drink alcohol.
At the front desk they said he needed photo identification or he wouldn't be allowed in the club. I protested that children could be in the restaurant so why if he didn't drink could he not attend his grandmother's birthday? I didn't get a satisfactory answer and the claim it was covered by "government law" I knew wasn't true.
They did eventually accept his Medicare card as identification if a club member signed him in but only after I pointed out the inconsistency in the alleged requirements. An unacceptable situation and unnecessarily stressful for my mother.
Of course a number of young school aged children of my cousins were let in without photo identification which along with the lower standard for club members only reinforces the unnecessary imposition of the identification requirements imposed by the staff member who also claimed to be the manager when I ask to see the manager. Why was the manager at the front desk if in fact she was the manager?
The restaurant staff on the other hand at Ocean Treasure were delightful and the service and...
