Iām tentative about writing this review because I have loved being able to retreat out the back of Cocoa Bar to the little Al fresco Dining sanctuary for a rare piece of peace and quiet in the hustle and bustle of the now booming newport cbd.
However, such a serendipitous delight should not be reserved for yours truly and the occasional date or family member I bring to this little hidden away paradise, so Iāll give a little spiel for all the Newport boomers to read and digest so they can slowly and steadily consider other eating options:
This new ownership of Cocoa Bar Newport has it all: yummy food, efficient preparation and service and quick, delicious coffee made promptly and with a smile that goes down the pipes as smooth as anything one might buy in Newtown or Leichhardt
An ice cream/gelato selection worthy of an Italian politicians family, or a newport breakers player whoās just scored his first try: not only is this for ice cream cones, but if you truly respect yourself, you can pick out your own unique combo of flavours to go into your truly delectable iced coffee milkshake.
Finally, the food. There are some true mysteries in Newport. 1. Why the boomers were so stupid as to argue against the B line coming this far north and 2ā¦. How does Cocoa Bar manage to cook my eggs Benedict so fast, yet keep it so so damn delicious? One of Newports great true mysteries.
Take your family, your tinder date, your grandma or your boss here if you wanna give them an inevitably satisfying meal.
If you dislike your family and donāt want them dining in friendly, stylish culinary excellence, then I guess take them somewhere lame...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe worst food experience I have had I think in my life. I ordered a chicken club sandwich which was served close to immediately which when put in front of me the realised the guacamole was browning, salad wintered, shredded chicken hard like been left open in a fridge overnight, bacon pretty much black but not burnt just extremely dry from I believe from being cooked prior and then again.
I sent back and a man said it was left it in the oven too long which I do not believe it what happened. Brought out a new one with fresh chicken and salad but the same bacon.
Bread was fine. Sauce and add on put on mine and my friends food that wasnāt supposed to be included in the order.
Would not recommend. Friends all said some items seems fresh like eggs and bread but other items like the salad, guacamole etc seemed old and not fresh.
Coffee was fine.
Would not return. No...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBy far the best little cafe on the peninsular. Great breakfasts (you must try the brekky stack), great coffee and great staff. Martin and his staff are always really friendly and willing to help. They are happy to cater for individual requests such as gluten free, having certain items on the side or even swapping out the odd item. Their lunch time panini taste great too. For $10 including a coffee you can't go wrong.
To go with all this, their meals are the best value. The servings here very very really generous from the super healthy brekky stack to the $10 lunch time specials. You really can't go wrong. We looked for a good cafe for months and settled on this one that we now visit 1-2...
