Cokco Chicken & BBQ — Restaurant in Sydney

As a couple, we recently had a first time dinner ( around 8pm) at this restaurant. As it already late, we decided to have a hotpot and the seafood pancake instead of having BBQ as planned before. As soon as we arrive, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. First we ordered the beef n octopus hotpot, a few minutes later, the staff came out and said they ran out of that hotpot and asked us to pick another one. Then we happily to pick the Beef intestines hotpot. And a few minutes later, they came out again to let us know that the Intestines hotpot was also ran out, we only had 2 choices which was the seafood hotpot and the boiled beef hotpot. At that time we was so hungry and honestly already lost our interest. After confirm the order again, we waited for more than 15 mins for the pancake, and the hotpot was served more than 20 mins later when we almost finished the pancake. The hotpot cost $55 and completely let us down. There was around 7 pieces of sliced beef brisket , 4 pieces of beef tendon, 4 pieces of ox tails and some chinese cabbage and onion. The broth was tasteless and full of chicken powder and MSG. After going home, my mouth become numbness and burning, due to the allergy with the chicken powder.

Overall, the food was below average, We completely disappointed with the hotpot. The pancake was okay as we were very hungry and have waited for too long.

The thing that I would like to mention here is please also pay attention to the other dishes beside the BBQ. We were recommended by friends about the BBQ here but it was a late dinner for us to have a BBQ and we had a very disappointed experience with the hotpot. I will still recommend this restaurant to my friends to try the BBQ and hopefully our next visit will...

Well. I had been coming here for years and most recently I started coming every week. The atmosphere was great the service was great, but... last night we went and look, normally I give a place a second chance and allow everyone a bad time however, this was appalling. We sat down in the BBQ section because that’s the only place with people and good atmosphere. We decided to not go for t he BBQ option and get other things. A lady then approached us and asked if we could move to the front because this section is reserved for people who wanna BBQ their meats. We said we’d rather stay here as the atmosphere is better and there’s literally nobody at the front. Well, in the end she made us leave to the front even though the back was not even close to being full. The front was barren, not one diner there, one staff member who never waited on us and in the end I had to walk back to the BBQ area with requests for things that we needed. They opened the front door right near us and the breeze made us cold with the cross flow. There was zero atmosphere, we ate in a horrible environment with no service no consideration and no customer the whole meal. The fact that the customer is being told what to do suggests there’s little regard for us. After months of weekly support it was time to say a big “STUFF YOU” to this place where you literally have to get up each time you want...

We’ve visited before and was seated at the back which we had a good experience. On my recent visit we were seated indoors as outdoors was fully reserved. This mean that it was a heating element rather than a bbq. After ordering, they brought us the sides and a piece of baking paper which left us confused. Turned out they wanted us to bbq on top of the paper, I guess to save them from cleaning the grills?!

We asked if we could cook directly as the meat started boiling on the paper and they said no and that this was a “new system”. Well you didn’t mention this to us at all. Service was poor, kept forgetting our dishes and we had to remind them we were missing items. We also had to get the paper replaced multiple times as it would burn out and created tears and holes. Using the baking paper meant the meat did not sear but rather boiled in its juices. It was an odd experience and we did not enjoy it. This was not “Korean bbq”. Had they told us earlier before we ordered we would have left and gone to another restaurant, there are plenty on the same road! This visit left us on a bad note and it was just...
