I'm partly to blame for continuing to give this place a go, despite years of disappointment. The pies are truly abominable; most are $9.95, and without fail the pastry base is completely undercooked and soggy. Desserts (which I don't think are made in house) are not much better. Whilst it is good they get in fresh bread, including from Black Cockatoo, they then keep it on the shelf for days without disclosing that (on one occasion I was told that it was OK for baguettes to be kept on the shelf for 3-4 days). It's really just a business set up for the mini-bus tourists who hit Glenbrook most days.
Edit- Con has responded! (notwithstanding he hasn't replied to any of the other one or two star reviews).
Con - the reason why I didn't raise the issues with your "patisserie" is because I did in fact politely raise with you directly an issue I had with a purchase from your "deli" business a while ago, to which your response over the phone was filled with nothing but patronisation, contempt, and derision. Given that experience, and unsurprisingly, I haven't subsequently raised the issues flagged above. The reason I have come back has nothing to do with you, but to support your employees. But no more, sweet...
Read moreI have been a frequent customer for years and have brought friends and family to this joint. The pies used to be amazing. My partner and I called up and asked them to set aside some pies for us and the lady said sure, see you soon. We travelled over 40 mins, and lo and behold when we arrived they had no pies we wanted. The blonde short haired lady is rude, patronising and condescending. She could hear everything my partner was saying but just wanted to make him feel bad and repeat what he said. “Hmm? Sorry? What was that?” Come on, you heard what we said. When we asked for a fresh pie to be cooked (as that was literally the reason we drove that far), another staff member was EXTREMELY rude and gave us the biggest dirty look. How hard is it to shove a pie in the oven? So disappointed with the service today. Had enough of entitled workers, if you hate your job and/or people that much, stay home and let other nice people work at this place rather then making everyone miserable. Won’t be back and will definitely be letting...
Read moreNext time you're heading up the mountain, stop and call into this place. It's a brilliant little place to sit down and have a nice hot real mountain breakfast or lunch. The pies are HUGE and we had trouble finishing ours. Beautiful range of fillings and a lovely, friendly atmosphere. Get in early for lunch as it fills up fast. Anyone who knows the little special eating nooks on the mountain know this place. It's a real gem.
Perfect for anyone in the city looking for a nice drive on the weekend and a beautiful feed at the end. There's also a HUGE family friendly park directly across the road, so you can always bring along a blanket, pull up a patch of grass under a tree and watch the kids play whilst you eat.
Definitely add it to your list of "must...
