Cosmopolitan Cafe Bondi Junction — Restaurant in Sydney

Took my son here for lunch. He ordered pasta and I ordered schnitzel. Very hard to get staff attention once seated, as nice as they are. They don't seem to look around for people signalling for assistance, like good waiting staff. My sons pasta was ok but my schnitzel had issues. The mushroom sauce with it didn't taste right. By the time the staff had come I'd eaten half the schnitzel The dodgy mushroom sauce was already spread over my food. The waitress said she'd take it in a minute. She never came back. I was so fed up with waiting that after about 4-5 mins I took the dodgy mushroom sauce myself to the kitchen service window for them to confirm what I suspected. One of the chefs tried it and spat it out instantly. They didn't say bring the meal back or we will replace it. The waitress came up and apologised but my meal went cold while waiting for her. She asked if I would like something else with it. I suggested tomato sauce l, but I meant with a fresh schnitzel, but all she handed me was the bottle of sauce from the fridge. This was totally not what I originally wanted or ordered and now my food was extra cold. I went back and finished most of my schnitzel because my son was in a rush. I finished whaever was left of the schnitzel not touched by my spreading the mushroom sauce at the outset. But I felt sick looking at it on my plate. The staff didn't even offer me a replacement meal. When I finished as much of it as I could (only a few more mouthfuls), I asked the waitress to let the boss down the front know that I expected a discount for the whole unpleasant experience. By the time I got to the cashier, the team there had been fully appraised as far as I could tell, but no apologies. All they offered me was to take a coffee off the bill. A $55 totally unpleasant meal and all they removed was a $5 coffee for a lousy experience. I have spent a lot of money here over the years, had some average meals and some ok meals, but always returned. This time however the whole experience from start to finish was highly unpleasant and totally unacceptable for a popular place like this. I won't be returning anytime soon. They've blown it with me big time. This once loyal customer is voting with their feet. You too have now been warned.

Postscript: thankyou management for your offer to welcome us back. I may still take you up on it. I do dispute the chef's version of events because I was hoping for that response when I approached the window and never got it. Regardless, thanks again but give us some time. Staff were friendly at first but when they brought our meals, my order had a different dressing to what was on the menu plus fetta which was not listed as part of the dish (I can't have fetta for medical reasons). My friend's order was also wrong as she had requested no fetta on hers and was given it anyway. We explained to a staff member the issue and they seemed to struggle to understand what we meant however did take the meals away. When they brought us the replacements my friend's order was right however mine was now missing one of the key elements. When I tried to alert staff to the problem, she just thanked me and walked away, not listening to what I said. It's always a pleasure to visit here. All the staff are great. Food is great server's are awesome. Ram is such a lovely gentleman and friendly with his interactions. He even help me do a suprise cake for my husbands birthday with a candle and song when all I asked for was the cake be a suprise. Smeeta is just as great. She always remembers our favorite dishes and is a delight to have serve us! And the check out is always lovely. They ask how everything was and put up with me asking when the pulled pork will be back. And I must rave about said pulled pork sandwich!! Its a rare special item that I've had now twice.
