As a dining experience, Daikoku does deliver a fun and engaging atmosphere. A few things to note;
There is no a la carte option. You will be opting into a 'degustation' menu of approximately $65/$95/$125, with similar menu items on each. The servings are adequate, well presented, and the chefs certainly know what they're doing with the ingredients.
On the positives, the staff are very friendly and accommodating with any allergies and dietary requirements. With a small venue, the atmosphere is lively and warm, a very pointed emphasis on showmanship and spectacle. After all, who doesn't like a fire show?
That being said, it is unfortunate that the food itself was disappointing, not in the quality, but in the amount of food. At the lowest price point of $65 per person, I expected to walk away feeling full, or at least somewhat satisfied. A small piece of constructive criticism would be that, like most other teppanyaki places, it would not be too much effort to finish the meal with something more filling, such as a fried rice, or other carb-filled fare. My party of 5 left feeling like we had only had half a meal, and went searching for other food to slate the hunger.
Overall, Daikoku's staff, chef's, and atmosphere provides an experience that is worthy of the teppanyaki label. If only the menu could...
Read moreHad an AMAZING meal here! Came here for lunch the other day and the chef served everything so fresh in front of you. There are not many teppanyaki restaurants in Sydney so I’m so glad I found this one! It was such a fun and eye opening experience watching the chef cook everything in front of you, and lit everything ON FIRE 🔥 They also played the throwing game and did a really cool “writing our names on salt” before making our fried rice 😋
They specialise in 5-course degustation and the price starts from $65pp (then $93pp and $120pp which has got more boujee items like lobster and king prawn!) We got the most expensive menu 😆 and really enjoyed every course! Highlight was the king prawn, lamb and tenderloin which were all cooked to perfection and...
Read moreTeppanyaki is something I haven't been to for many years. I had forgotten how fun and entertaining it is as a dining experience. Normally its expensive and the food takes second place to the entertainment. Not so at Daikoku Teppanyaki. Chef Jag has had 2 decades of experience making Teppanyaki and he is a masterful entertainer and chef.
I had the 5course set including frame grilled lamb cutlets, a succulent lobster bao, a beautiful grilled salmon. Each dish had a standout and the quality of the cooking was top quality.
You have the personal attention of the chef and a spectacular fire show with all the showmanship and tricks with catching food in your bowl awaits.
