We have been to De Lanna many times and would, up until this evening, have shared the positive reviews. I hope this evening isn’t the start of a trend. We stood around for some time waiting to be seated. We ended up then having to fetch our own menus and, having been further ignored, went to to the counter to order. Then the climax. The first mouthful of beef in my Thai beef salad was tough. Several subsequent pieces included chunks of gristle. I ploughed on hoping for improvement. I ended up finding a piece of bone and 4 more un-chewable pieces. I took the plate up when I went to pay. After a long conference in the kitchen I was simply told that the kitchen had been advised and that maybe it was just overcooked. I said it wasn’t just cooking, it was poor quality meat. I then signalled that I didn’t feel I should have to pay for the dish. Another kitchen conference and the manager said that since I’d eaten the dish, I’d have to pay half. This is not how to treat customers if you want them back. An early acknowledgment of the issue and some form of offer early on- even half- would have avoided the unpleasant taste left by...
Read moreDecided to try my local Thai and get delivery. Huge mistake. I would make a comment about how the food taste, but that would require me getting the food.
Ordered through menulog, my timer was set wrong, which was no problem. After 30 minutes (the restaurant is only 1km away), I phoned them to check the order status and was assured it was only going to take another 15 minutes. No biggie. It’s now over 1 hour and I called again just to be informed that the delivery was somehow made to the wrong address - without being confirmed by neither the delivery guy nor the restaurant. The restaurant couldn’t cancel and refund, so they have to make the order and send it again.
To wait over an hour for some Pad Thai is a joke. Probably better off going to the restaurant and eat in.
Edit/Update: The food is bland and forgettable. Will never be...
Read moreThis was an awesome little find with some quite enjoyable food!
The highlight for the night was definitely the massaman lamb shank with the tender meat falling off the bone very easily and coming apart like melted butter with the full experience of the spices and seasonings used. Definitely had to pour the rest of the rice into the curry to not put it to waste once the lamb was finished.
The pad see ew was unfortunately a bit bland and beef was slightly over cooked but still relatively enjoyable!
We also ordered the soft shell crab which was well seasoned and freshly fried with a hearty portion of fresh salad on the bottom. This made for a great entree and overall a wonderful experience and would try their other curries in...
