Two Chaps in Marrickville stands out as a remarkable experience. First off, let's talk about the coffee. For those who appreciate a robust Italian roast, Two Chaps hits the mark perfectly. Their coffee is a strong wake-up call for the taste buds, especially if you lean towards heavier roasts. Moving onto the food, Two Chaps elevates the street cafe dining experience to new heights. It's not every day you find a place that commits to making everything from scratch, right on the premises. We tried their cheeseburger, with homemade potato skins chips on the side and hash brownies as a standalone meal. The quality and taste were outstanding, something you'd expect from a two or three-hat restaurant. While the prices aren't on the lower end, the portion sizes make up for it, offering a hearty and satisfying meal. The atmosphere of Two Chaps adds to its charm. It embodies the laid-back, informal vibe of the inner city, making you feel right at home. The cafe is spacious with plenty of seating options, perfect for a casual catch-up or a solo coffee break. The service is another highlight – efficient and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. And let's not forget the desserts – a must-try. The donuts, in particular, were a revelation. Fresh, fluffy, and perfectly sweet, they're a testament to the cafe's commitment to quality and freshness. In summary, Two Chaps in Marrickville is more than just a cafe; it's a local culinary experience that brings joy and happiness in every aspect. Whether you're a coffee lover, a foodie, or just in search of a great local spot, this cafe is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Located in Marrickville, Two Chaps is a cafe where all dishes including bread and pastries are made from scratch. You can see all the beautiful treats in the front counter such as brioche donuts, tarts and croissants. They take care towards food production and consumption and use local suppliers for their goods. It’s a cafe and bakery by day and selling a set menu by night on the weekends. It's a bustling spot in an industrial area, the cafe in a little warehouse space. A spots inside and out but they're doing a lot of takeaway at the moment with Covid regulations. They are enthusiastic about supporting the community, using local products for ingredients. Dishes are fresh, vibrant and change seasonally depending on what produce is around. Their food is healthy and vegetarian but they also have some vegan options. Think of salads, falafel wraps, hash browns, sourdough crumpets and sandwiches all prepared with significant creativity. We enjoyed Brushwoods’ fresh rolled oat porridge, with a Geraldton wax poached pear, sticks of rhubarb, toasted almonds, moscatels and spices, linseed and fennel crackers and maple dates. It also had some coconut yogurt and perfect for the vegan diners around. Their coffee is roasted nearby by Microlot Coffee Roasters and is a pretty good drop. If you're not up for a coffee, they also have sticky chai, raw cacao hot chocolate and teas by rabbit hole organic tea bar

There are many types of brunch, but typically I imagine a rich eggs Benedict, or an English style breakfast when I imagine the perfect start to a lazy weekend. Two chaps doesn't do this. Two chaps does more of a unique, vegetarian, health focussed take on brunch, so if you're looking for the classics, and don't want to experience anything new, probably give it a miss. If you're feeling adventurous, it's a must. My partner and I were recommended two chaps by a friend, and we went in blind. We ordered the tofu burger, and miso pumpkin pasta. Being Italian and having been raised primarily on pasta, I'm very critical of it, and love trying other people's pastas. The miso pumpkin and chilli oil pasta reminded me of an Ottolenghi recipe, where you think "what the hell, this can't possibly work" but when you try it, it's fantastic. One of the most unique pastas I have ever eaten. My only critique is that the staff (although super friendly) were quite busy and after checking to see if we were ready to order (we weren't) sort of forgot we existed for 20 minutes before we hailed them down to order. Also no customer enjoys having $2 aioli offered to them without knowing it's going to cost $2. If you're coming to 2 chaps, adjust your expectations, and you'll have an amazing time. Come expecting a more traditional brunch and you'll be disappointed.

I did not have a great experience at this place. Food isn't bad, service isn’t the best. We went there on a busy day and waited to be seated in a queue.

This Asian staff member (male) saw us in the queue and very conveniently ignored us, and went to ask for the names of the people standing behind us to put down on the list. Those people had to tell him that we were before them and then he came back to us.

On a chalk board it was mentioned ‘Please await to be seated or take a seat outside and order at the counter’. Although we had put our names down on the list but we read the chalk board instruction and decided to sit outside when the table would get empty. As soon as the outside table for two got empty we approached the table, however this Asian staff member (male) said there are people before us in a very cold way. We went back to the queue confused. My husband went to get clarification on the statement written on the chalkboard and met with a cold response again by this Asian staff member (male). While we were waiting we saw few people came in and took the tables outside.

We had waited for a while, and when the other table for 2 got empty, there was no one to clean it. The Asian staff member (male) saw that people had gotten up and that we were waiting to be seated, but conveniently chose to ignore and went to put bottle of water to the table where people who came and sat outside without booking and chit chatted with them.

My husband went inside and there he asked another girl who seemed to be Aussie, and she was very polite and said we can take table outside, and that she will get it cleaned. She came out and cleaned the table outside and we finally sat. I was already not in a mood to order anything, however as we had to travel somewhere so there was no point to go to another place.

I then went inside to place order and again this Asian Staff member (male) who was taking order, saw me coming and conveniently left the counter and went outside pretending to take names and make sure that every table had water but ours. I waited for 5 minutes and queue behind me to order got long.

Once again the Aussie Staff member came to the cash register, who was actually busy serving food from the kitchen to table and she took down our order.

My drink came and it was served by that Asian Staff member (male). He just kept it on the table without a word. He saw our table didn’t have water and he still didn’t serve us any water. We somehow finished our food which was decent.

The reason for me to give such low stars to the place is because of Asian Staff member service to us. We felt humiliated as we could see there was a discrimination done by that Asian staff member.

My advice to the owner or management, may be make sure people are treated right way irrespective of colour, gender, ethnicity etc. as every guest is a paying guest and good customer service is something that is basic when you are in this food industry. You can check the cameras that not even once we were rude to your staff.

Coming to food, food was good. We had ordered mushroom danish (served by the Aussie staff member- female), winter toast (served rudely by the Asian staff member-male, who even took one pair of new cutlery back without asking if we want to change the cutlery), house made soda (served by the Aussie staff member-female) and turmeric latte (served by the Asian staff member-male).

Extremely behaviour by this Asian guy so I am not going back to this cafe. My excitement literally turned into a big...

I have been a huge fan and a regular customer of this place for years and the food is always delicious, we regularly take friends from out of town and actively supported this restaurant during lock down with thier cook at home dinners which were awesome. We visited today and it was completely shambolic. This is sadly the last nail in the coffin and the third trip in a few months with substandard service where most staff seem to actively avoid serving customers and have no idea what’s going on with who needs served where. After an hour of waiting for our food to arrive for our table of 4 and trying to catch the attention of a staff member, we first asked a lady who appeared to be the manager if our food was anywhere close, this lady looked at us like we each had 2 heads and said bluntly “we are short staffed I’ll check” alas she never returned. Another 15 minutes passed and I went to the front counter and spoke to a young girl (the youngest member of staff who seemed to have the best customer service and communication skills) and said we had now been waiting over an hour and and was there any sign of our food coming soon, this girl was very polite and helpful and came to our table to say it was 10 minutes away….great news! Another 20 minutes passed and still not so much as a crumb has appeared we catch the girls eye again and say we still have nothing, she went to the kitchen to check came back and said they haven’t started making it yet and she’s not sure what’s happening. We made the decision then almost 2 hours in and completely famished to leave and went to the pub on the corner. I completely understand this is busy Sunday brunch time however the lack of communication between staff and to customers, as-well as what appears to be a lack of basis customer service skills for most staff means we will be unlikely to return anytime soon. Mistakes happen and orders are missed I get it but actually taking the time to speak to customers and let them know what’s going on goes a long way, it seems Two Chaps has become a victim of its own success and knows that people will still visit regardless...

Just purchased 2 coffees and a donut for $20.

Ordered both coffees as oat flat whites because they don’t range decent soy milk (ADC - super weird as I’ve never seen another specialty coffee use lower quality soy protein isolate soy milk compared with bonsoy or HHSB).

They both came out as dairy coffees. I took a sip and could tell right away. It was also a really poorly extracted shot.

I went right back to let the FOH team member know I’m allergic to dairy. No one cared? I repeated myself twice. The FOH team member mumbled “sorry” but had nothing much else to say and I kind of got the feeling I was just an inconvenience? So I asked her if she can go and check (I knew it was dairy but I didn’t know what else to say to ask her to do something / talk with someone else). The barista next to her then joined the convo to say there was “no way to know (if it was the wrong milk) but I’ll make you a new one”. Strange response from a barista because you can obviously smell the difference and visually see the difference in the microfoam but he didn’t care to look at them, smell them or even take a second to retrace his steps (or look like he was trying to), seemingly uncaring about the gravity of the situation for me. No one asked me if I needed anything or if we’d be okay.

I should mention my coffees were the very last made so there wasn’t a gap in time which would make it more complex.

They spoke to me so lacklustre and rude that I felt way too uncomfortable to wait for the table we’d put our name down for or wait for the next coffees, so we just left even though we’d paid for the coffees.

It was super weird & uncomfortable. I just kept thinking “what would I do? How would I treat someone if I were them?” Hence why I thought a 1-star review was very valid.

I was looking forward to the beautiful artisanal food but hated how I was treated with seriously low hospitality, effort, expertise or care.

Overall, agree with other recent reviews, service is rude & lazy, there’s no good vibe and it ruins...
