Tiny venue with nice food. Note: the review image showing a big space is incorrect — this is a new location and it only has 2 seats inside and 2 bench seats outside.

Loved the vege tacos more than the burrito.

The menu needs updating though — because staff and customers are confused. The menu says the vegetarian option is “mushroom” as the filling… yet when I ordered the tacos on the weekend and asked for veggie tacos it had no mushrooms then another day when I ordered a veggie burrito I was asked if I wanted mushrooms added.

I think the menu should have chicken, beef, vegetarian as the filling options, then when you order vegetarian you should get asked if you’d like mushrooms added. At the moment it’s the wrong way around, easily fixed though. (I personally just want veggies only no mushroom on my next order)

They seem to heat up the food after you order which I think will mean it will be hard to scale if there is lots of customers ordering at the same time. For veggies at least — I don’t mind if they are pre-heated every hour and left in the glass cabinet on a heater thing or something — and then just put onto the food after I order… I’d rather it fast than super freshly heated up… but meat eaters may disagree and want their meat heated up on the spot. I think $2.90 for avocado is double what it should cost.

I’d visit again but stick with the tacos over the burrito (although the tacos are a bit messy to eat haha)

Overall so excited to see this yummy food...

Edit Out of a whim, I tried this place out again on 12 September 2025 and got some tacos. The tacos were amazing, with fresh ingredients and had good portions. I believe my previous experience was just an error or an off day but this place is great and a must try. I have edited my review to reflect my current experience.

**Old/Previous Review" I visited this place on Friday 25 July 2025, I ordered the high protein bowl, which boasts 85g protein and I paid for extra serving of steak in total it was about $26 ($18-19 without the extra steak). I returned to work, opened up the bowl and it sincerely only had 3 slices of steak and a few pieces of chicken. I would say in total, the meat was 10% of the bowl, the rest was rice. An absolute...

Was overly optimistic from the great reviews but the experience was very average. We ordered the tacos, nachos and a mulita. Every single thing we ordered had the same ingredients just presented in different ways. this could be improved even by switching up sauces/cheeses. The mulita bottom layer was soggy and fell apart when we got it despite eating it then and there. The pico de gallo and guac were both flavorless, runny, and didn’t have enough salt. There were no vampiros left. I’m glad I tried it but will make the trek out west for more authentic...

Finally some authentic mexican tacos in Sydney!! Elf Taco is definitely a must visit if you’re looking for a delicious, flavourful feast. I ordered two chicken tacos for $13.5 which came with radish, guacamole, chopped jalapeños and pickled cabbage. I was in love with how flavourful every single bit of the tacos were, down to the tortilla they were served on. I cannot wait to return in the future. Additionally, the service was so so friendly and welcoming.

Stopped by this cosy corner spot in Surry Hills and was blown away by the steak burrito — packed with flavour, super filling, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and well balanced, with that authentic Mexican touch that’s hard to find. A genuinely satisfying meal in a welcoming, relaxed setting. Had to come back for the taco's and can confirm they are well portioned! Shall be back every lunch time for my lunch time fix!
